The doggy tic-tac-toe was a wonderful idea. Someone on NewfNet posted the rules here. basically you make a large tic-tac-toe board on the groound, divide the groups into two. Every time a group does a trick that the other group doesn't know how to do (roll over, bark on command etc.) they get to place a newf (and owner) on the tictactoe board.
Here are our doggy olympics rules (from our this year's waterwork camp in Finland). Hopefully you'll get some ideas from this.
Doggy Team Olympics
All groups consist of 6 dogs, every dog must compete in at least three events. Team members must decide among the group and let us know which dog will participate in which event.
Treats, toys, praises and commands may be used without penalization. The most important is a successful finish and having FUN with your dog, not calculating points !
Part 1 - Land Olympics
Event 1 - Koiramolkky
Dog may be sent or recalled through the molkky pins (the number of pins tipped over is the number of points received), or a dog may be sent to retrieve a single pin (the number on the pin is the points for the exercise). The team with the most points wins. Two dogs may participate.
Event 2 - Supperslalom - Slalom between plates of food
The quickest team to slalom between plates of food is the winner. Eating treats will delay the team by five seconds. All dogs must participate.
Event 3 - Lifeline – take a long line
A long line is given to a dog to carry as far as it will. The owner can walk next to the dog to encourage it to take the long line further. If the dog drops the line and retakes it without the owner touching the rope, the dog may continue with it. The next team member will continue from where the last dog of the same team dropped it. The group to pull a long line the furthest wins. All dogs may participate.
Event 4 - To Click or Not to Click
One team members uses a clicker to guide the other team member to perform a simple task. Points will be given on the knowledge of the use of the clicker. Two team members must participate.
Event 5 - Musical Chairs
All teams walk around in a circle to music. Once the music stops, the dogs must be guided to sit on a designated place as quickly as possible. The slowest team will be out on every round until there is a winner. Two dogs may participate.
Part 2 – Water Olympics
Event 6 - Helping Hands – Retrieve four gloves
Four gloves with number values will be thrown in the water. The dogs must go and fetch the gloves. The points on the first glove will be multiplied by 4, second glove by 3, third by 2 and last by 1. The team with the highest points will win. Two dogs may participate.
Event 7 - Free Willy
The owner must get on a blow-up whale, paddle a short distance to fetch a bumper. The owner’s dog will be sent to pull the owner and whale back to shore. The owner must try to throw and aim the bumper into a “goal” on shore from the distance where the dog lets go of the rope on the whale. Points will be given from fetching the bumper, the return to shore and target throw. Two dogs may participate.
Event 8 - Finders Keepers – Retrieve three miscellaneous objects
Three objects (oar, boat and bumper) will be thrown in the water, all objects must be brought back to shore. Points will be given for the retrieves. Two dogs may participate.
Event 9 - Help Me – Saving an unconscious victim
A dog must go out to save an unconscious victim from the water by taking the hand. Points will be given on how fluently the exercises are performed. Two dogs may participate.
Event 10 - Rescue3 - Team rescue
One dog will jump out of the boat and swim to shore, the second will go out to save a drowning victim and the third to fetch the boat. Points will be given on how fluently the exercises are performed. Three team members may participate.
Participating teams: Get in touch with your group members as soon as possible, so that you have time to decide which dogs will participate at which events.
