I met Sheila..she recognized Lola walking around
Last year we really only met the NN people who were involved in the same events we were, ie. draft and Olympics. There wasn't really any way to tell who was a Newf Netter unless you already knew them. There were lots of people we missed meeting. Not sure how to fix that. We could have Newf Net buttons or something, I guess.
That's basically what we do with the basenjis. There is a list similar to this called Basenji Companions (BCom) and at the B National everyone just brought their own HELLO nametags and wrote on them "BCom - ANORED" or whatever. It was fun to go around and try to find each other. If I go, maybe I'll wear a "Hello" badge with "NN - TerriW" on it.
Absolutely Laura, the National is a great place to learn more about the breed, meet other Newf owners and breeders. There are breeders there from all over the country and outside of the country, too. You will see hundreds of Newfies there. It is usually a very humbling experience when you are surrounded by this magnificent breed. The Rescue ceremony and Living Legend awards are enough to bring a grown man or woman to tears. We live in Toledo, Ohio. Would the Frankenmouth event be something that doggie owner wanna-be's could get something out of? We want to learn but we don't know what's available in our area.
