Frankenmuth 2011

Last year we really only met the NN people who were involved in the same events we were, ie. draft and Olympics. There wasn't really any way to tell who was a Newf Netter unless you already knew them. There were lots of people we missed meeting. Not sure how to fix that. We could have Newf Net buttons or something, I guess.

Joan,
Find Susan (Ivoryudx) when you get there, she knows everyone :kgo_027:
She will tell you who's who!

If I go, maybe I'll wear a "Hello" badge with "NN - TerriW" on it.
That's basically what we do with the basenjis. There is a list similar to this called Basenji Companions (BCom) and at the B National everyone just brought their own HELLO nametags and wrote on them "BCom - ANORED" or whatever. It was fun to go around and try to find each other.

I'll be in Frankenmuth too but probably newfless - so I might stand out that way! :)

Hi, I'm new to Newf-net. I've joined because my husband and I are interested in eventually having a newfie. We live in Toledo, Ohio. Would the Frankenmouth event be something that doggie owner wanna-be's could get something out of? We want to learn but we don't know what's available in our area. Thanks in advance. Laura

If you could come to the National in Frankenmuth, this would be a wonderful opportunity to see hundreds of newfies and meet many, many breeders. You certainly would get valuable information for a newfie wanna be from going.

Absolutely Laura, the National is a great place to learn more about the breed, meet other Newf owners and breeders. There are breeders there from all over the country and outside of the country, too. You will see hundreds of Newfies there. It is usually a very humbling experience when you are surrounded by this magnificent breed. The Rescue ceremony and Living Legend awards are enough to bring a grown man or woman to tears.

You only live a couple of hours away, you MUST go. :)

Anyone who is seriously interested in Newfs, including breeders, should attend a National Specialty. There is something offered for everyone, including seminars, health testing, and just seeing the 'cream of the crop' in the newf world.
