Finding a new place for water training

Our club, Genesee Region, just recently lost one of our water training sites due to a member moving out of state (this member owned a home on a lake). We have limited access to our other training site as it is rented out most weeks during the summer. My question is where do other clubs train? State Parks? Private areas? If other clubs train at state parks, was it hard to get permission to train there? Are there other places we should look into? I have some parks in mind but some of the things they stipulate are a little ridiculous (ie: no private row boats allowed but you can rent one for $15).

We use area lakes and varies down in Texas. One group uses state park and lake, us Corp of Engineers lake and city park, another Lower Colorado River Authority lake and park.

There happens to be a well known Newfoundland Breeder who lives in Port Crane. They have a 10 acre lake on their property. I can't speak for her, but maybe your club could make arrangements.

Feel free to PM me for additional information.

To further answer your questions, I know that the CNC practices at a state park in Hanover, PA.

Thanks Brad...I know whom you are referring to...she lives 5 minutes from me and I have been to her home several times. Another breeder in the area also suggested her property as well. We were also discussing this possibility at the last club meeting. The problem is that just about every member is due north from Port Crane so we are trying to find something more centrally located. If worst comes to worse, I will contact her.

PS. How is Calza? One of my newfs is from the same person you got Calza from.

North Central is fortunate in that we have three (3) sites for Water training, 2 are on Private (club member) property, and One is up north in Wisconsin, which was rehabed by club members, and they get to use it as re-payment (if I remember correctly). We can also rent areas where we do our Water Tests, but that would be cost prohibited to do for every week during water season. Possibly you could look for small water features on private property, and get a use agreement with the owner. I'm 100% positive that you will need insruance for the club to utilize it, and protect the club and memebrs.

Calza is coming along very well. She was a bit skittish at first, but is settling right in. I know these rehomes take some time to acclimate.

She is a very smart girl; definitely the smartest of the three Newfs I've had. That should make her adjustment easier, I presume

OH< and I hope everything works out for a new location for your region's water training.

We train with the local diving club. Our club's president works for the Belgian army (lifeguard) and is very close friends with the diving club's president. Hence we get to train there :D. So if I were you, I'd also look into perhaps asking diving or surf clubs if you could train with them, provided that you're not an overly large group and won't make a mess / are under control the whole time.
