feeding once a day

Anyone feed their Newf once a day? I have tried it and see an improvement in her behavior during the day, feeding close to supper time. Just wondering if this could cause any problems with a newf's health. Any ideas?

I have never fed once a day but the breeders of most Newfs I have had do feed once a day and don't seem to have an issue healthwise.

Yes, bloating would be an issue especially if they are foodies as they may gulp the food. I have not know anyone to feed once aday.

Have had newfies since 1989 was always told to feed twice a day to reduce the risk of bloating.... Mind you I also feed RAW since that time for the same reason and in all my newfies I have only had one anxiety bloat post surgery (fasting) and it went.

I am kinda neurotic about these things as I have had so many friends in my giants group loose their dogs with bloat

I feed twice a day... for my guys I just don't like the idea of them having to digest a whole day's worth of food in one meal. Especially in a young dog that is still growing and eating a large volume of food in a day. We feed raw and the usual approach is twice a day feedings. I do know others that feed once a day though without issue.

I should add, about the bloat issue, I have always fed twice a day and my Nicholas bloated one evening about two hours after eating his supper. Nothing had changed that day and still he bloated, and sadly didn't make it :(

I always feed twice a day. I would have a mutiny here if I went to once a day! LOL So sorry Angela. Not much is still not known about bloat and the cause.
