from his groomer yesterday. I guess he is a bad boy (ie won't stand on tables) and yesterday jumped out of the tub, injuring the groomer's shoulder.

So, my grooming career has begun.

Which K9 blower should I purchase? II or III?

I have shears, rake, thinners and a hose. Anything else I need? :roflmao:

That is too bad. Your poor goomer's shoulder....

K9 III for sure....Quite an investment but well worth it.

Mars Coat King (I usually use twice a year and I use it to break up any mats) and a really good comb & K9 III, you will not be disappointed. And as for the jumping or falling out of the tub...been there, done that, never going back again. Zeke broke the holder from the tub at the self service dog wash and took a flying lesson.

Make grooming a great time to bond and play around a bit. I've been teaching or trying to teach Zeke how to smile. Each time he gets frustrated his teeth show...so now each time he does it I say "smile" and grab a piece of cheese. Ok, it's not a trick that some might like but I'm like Myra...a little different.
But then again I've also been teaching him how to goose on command too, just for those customers I don't want behind the counters ;)

Just keep your patience and enjoy it...I go at it for hours...oh and if you let him lay down and do it, get yourself a nice floor pillow...I bought one and I love it, makes things that much more comfortable.

Just putting this out there for you but if you have a Petco near you, see if they have a self-service dog wash. Several near me do and Petco changes about $10 for it. You use their grooming area....water....tub (or floor if you choose)...shampoo...towels and blow dryer. It's a bargain! I have all kinds of grooming things for when I do it at home but often times, I don't mind leaving the mess at Petco.

K9III paid for itself in a matter of months. I've only had Obie "fully" groomed once in all the time I've had him. I take him in for regular belly tunnels all summer. I do all the rest myself. He may not look like a ready for the ring show dog, but he's still a pretty boy!
As for tools, comb, mck, mat splitter, shears & thinning shears.. and I also love my Chris Christiansen pin brush.

K9 III! Also, I've used the Petco self-wash too and I love it for bathing, but their dryers aren't as strong as the K9III, in my opinion. I groom Mal on the floor which now has the unfortunate side effect of him laying down at on the grooming table at the groomers. Whoops! Good luck!
