Dryer advice

What would you recommend for a dryer that I would use to blow out my girl's coat, look for ticks, and dry her after playing in a kiddie pool etc? I will be taking her the same groomer as my other Newf, so I would not be using it for an after bathing dryer. I know people recommend the K 9 II or III. Is that overkill for what I will be using it for? We are not rich, but I found from my first Newf sometimes spending money helps you save in the long run!

While I'm saving $ until I can get a really good dryer (K9) I am using a shop-vac with the hose on the blower end. It dries the top coat quite well, undercoat flies everywhere when I just blow the dry hair. So far it's been working well, but it does take about 3 hours to dry one after a bath that's wet to skin. I rarely blow dry after swimming though since the undercoat doesn't get wet.

I was a bit hesitant in purchasing the k9III due to the price somewhere around $400, but it's earned its keep. I use it to dry blow Chumleys coat outside on the porch twice a day as per the vet. He has environmental allergies and I have to blow the allergens off his coat as often as possible, especially before bedtime. The dander and fur end up all over my porch, but that shows me how much would have ended up in my house. I figure less vacuuming inside. I do keep a shop vac on the porch to vacuum all the fur outside about once a week. When my cars get loaded with fur I just open up all four doors and blow it all out with the blower. It works great!

I could not spend the money on the K9III when we needed to get a dryer, so I bought a less expensive Master Blaster. It is ok, and works well for what I've needed. It does take me a longer time to dry after a bath than it would with a K9III but otherwise meets our needs. However, now that I'm not working and doing more of the grooming at home (i.e. more baths at home) I will consider upgrading to the K9III.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on the K-9 III! Very helpful info on all the many uses of a dryer. My girl has decided her favorite spot is under our deck in the dirt. I think I will be doing a lot of dry blowing. Thanks to all for helping me decide.

Spending money on a good dryer is very important. You just don't know how much you will use this and how helpful it is! I often just blow Thor's coat out to get loose hair off.

I got a refurbished K911 from The Electric Company and only paid just under $150.00, it was like new, I use it all the time and have had it about 6 years, still works like new
