Dogs using snow piles to make their escape

Oh that is heartbreaking. One of those things that you probably don't think about because you don't usually have these snow mounds very often.

Our next door neighbor's son that lives in the Hartford, CT old female schnauzer did do that here in the last week or 2. Fortunately they realized it right away and I think the dog was by the front door when they paniced and went looking.

Now it seems to me, my first winter or two on newf.net before Snuffles was even mine, someone here from Canada had that happen, but fortunately found the dog right away. But they took pictures from a 2nd story window of the foot prints in the snow, and you could see where the newf went over. Seems to me the snow was within inches of the top of the fence. I had tried to see if that was still on newf.net awhile back ago, but could not find the thread.

Morgan was playing with the neighbors dogs. They had a 4 foot fence and they almost got out. We have a 6 foot fence and weren't even thinking of the snow drifts. Hope the family does find their dog. :(

Praying they get found, that is one problem I do not have to consider, mine will be able to swim over the fence soon if the rain keeps falling

A happy update...the Newfie/Rottie mix that escaped his yard is back home after a month and a half on the lamb!!! Happy family and happy pooch, if a bit emaciated...I've been following the family's blog and couldn't be happier that there was a joyous ending to this story!
