Warning to all show people and people traveling through the states of Georgia, North Carolina and S Carolina.
The above states will confiscate your dogs if traveling through them and they stop you and you can't show proof of vaccination for rabies.
They stopped people returning from the Perry shows and took their dogs, they called in their lawyer and the dogs were returned but they were fined $600. For not having paperwork with them.
Also, the state of Georgia can euthinize immediately.
Please make all of your friends, families and fellow show people aware of this more then likely PETA based problem.

I just got this from a Great Dane breeder, so I thought I ought to send it to my beloved Newf Net friends.
If anyone knows anything else about this, please let me know.

I always carry a folder with me with all medical info (including copy of rabies certificate) for a dog I'm traveling with. Plus all microchip info, and an "Emergency" sheet (in a prominent place in the vehicle) with information about the dog and directions about who to call who can be responsible for the dog should something happen to me. It has my Vet #, Friend #'s, home #.

My guess would be that they're doing it for the same reason they're giving tickets for people going 1 or 2 MPH over the speed limit. Money. The states are all looking for ways to bring in revenue. Enforcing existing laws that they've let fall by the wayside (because the police have bigger fish to fry) is one way to increase revenue.

maybe they should go catch the big fish and fry it for dinner and leave folks and their animals alone. Good God!!!! what are they thinkin......Guess we just have to tighten up make sure things are OK and let it rip upon them.......lol

I can understand their (the states) amazing greed, BUT to take your dog?!?!? If they could they would put a tax on the fine and get more from you, but this sounds almost illegal. I know if you don't have your registation for your car, you can be given time to bring it to the barracks or get cited for it, but they don't take your car - much less destroy it!!

I think you are absolutely correct on this. Just look at how each state, town or city is raising everything for revenues. Car registrations, property taxes, meal taxes just to name a few, let alone what they can get for ticketing.

I always have paperwork with me, even in state. It is a habit from when I used to show horses. I remember one time a person hauling 16 Arabian horses to a show crossed the Indiana line and was stopped to see paperwork. The driver didn't have it on him as the trainer had it all in his vehicle. The horses were to be held until proof of vaccinations were shown. The driver said "Each of these horses are worth $20,000 or more. Are you prepared to be responsible for each and every one?" They were allowed to continue on. They were just being pricks.
