Cleaning SOS RE: Orijen 6-fish.

We moved to Seattle last week and are staying in a corporate apartment that's not quite equipped for pets (or kids, really), but that's not really the point of my post.

The other day, Arden fed Darwin. Some times later, my husband discovered Darwin's big ol' booty sticking out of the closet where the food bin was left open. We removed him from the closet, reminded Arden why we have to be careful about the food bin, and went on with our evening. Everyone went to bed soon after (with Darwin gated in the bathroom).

In the morning, Daddy invited Darwin up into the ever-so-white-as-snow bed. Where Darwin started puking. He jumped down, and made another puke pile--which was just undigested food, really. Then another one closer to the door.

He seems fine now... and the carpet messes have been cleaned up. The duvet cover for the bed, though.. smells so strongly off Orijen 6-Fish that it makes me gag. We have washed it twice--and, unfortunately, dried it, too. It smells like fish oil.

Does anyone know how to fish this? We've been using Method laundry detergent, but I'm more than happy to buy anything else. This is so gross...

... and it's COLD HERE, and I need blankets on the bed!

I be use bac out to get odors out before. Soak it in the wash for as long as you. An before letting the wash finish. I wonder if natures miracle would work too?

Soaking in Bac-out now--it gets out cat pee, it should get out some fish odor! I'll try oxy-clean if they doesn't work.

I'd try a laundry stick...they're usually in the section near detergent. I've had those get things out that nothing else could. You rub it on the nasty spot, and it seems to do a lot better job of getting oils out (which is probably what you're smelling).

Good luck!

Hope it works! Oxy clean has worked to get out cat pee for me (and puke, blood, etc.) It also got out a huge amount of mildew from a white jacket that I thought was ruined. I made it into a paste, smeared it all over the mildew spots and let it sit for a few hours, then soaked it in hot water with oxy clean for a few hours, then washed it in hot water with detergent and oxy clean, and it was totally gone! Took me all day, but everything I read said there was no way to get out mildew, and this was a nice jacket, so it was worth it. Good luck!

Try a few scoops of oxy clean. It has been great for removing "organic" things.
yes, this, Oxy clean and a super, super hot wash (you did say the duvet is white, right? If it's cotton, too, then this should be fine. Or if you'll toss it if you don't get the smell out then I'd try this, because it would be ruined/tossed one way or the other).

My old top load washer used to let me fill with super hot water and oxy, then turn it off/pause the cycle and let it soak for an hour or so. Then continue the cycle.

Do an extra rinse, or an extra, short, wash, if you're sensitive to the chemicals in Oxy or if you have sensitive skin in general.

Good luck with the move - when do you get into a new house/kid-dog friendly space?

Spray with Febreeze for pets. Machine wash adding 1/2 cup raw apple cider vinegar. No more smell. For stains spray with Resolve.

Above even gets out cat pee smell.

Meri this is the driest December on record. Very weird. The rain will probably play catch up soon.

Our temp housing is paid through 1-12. The bed here is horrid, though. They've switched out the mattress, but it didn't help at all. We are currently looking for a place--the debate about urban or more neighborhood-type places is still going. My husband wants the penthouse in midtown. I'd like to be on a quiet street.

Don't know if you're still looking for suggestions..but Nature's Miracle works well on any kind of protein driven odors for me. I buy it by the gallon :)
