Cigarettes bud/ butt

He's only 11 weeks and he is into smokes! :icon_lamer:

The people in charge of cutting the community lawn smoke and obviously they drop the cigarettes bud/ butt to the ground, and when I walk Drako I'm in a constant battle of removing those from his mouth because he loves to chew them. I was afraid that there would be a time were I don't notice he is chewing one, but he is getting in the habit of looking at me with guilty eyes (which I'm glad!).

I know that I can't prevent the cigarettes bud/ butt to be in the ground, but there is any way I can get him out of the habit of chewing them? Is it part of the teething months?

good luck, just know that nicotine is poison for dogs, so I would avoid any areas where the butts are lying around.

Finn used to pick the cigarette butts off the sidewalk his first few weeks home, and we were just vigilant in watching him and pulling them out. He stopped on his own probably around 12-13 weeks and now if he accidentally picks one up thinking it's a stick or food (the little scavenger), he spits it out on his own right away. I think he learned they didn't taste very nice.

When you catch him with one, tellhim no, and substute it with a little treat or something he can chew, then tell him "Yes" or a positive word and praise.
