Calling all careative Newf Netters!

Hi all, I need to pick your brains for some creative ideas! I teach kindergarten and have been thinking about my welcome back bulletin board for this year. I wanted to have some type of dog theme for the board as well as in my room. I'm in a catholic school, and I thought the dog theme could be like Disciples Of God, which would tie nicely into the school's mission. Last year in my class I had two helpers every day that were the "top dogs" and they were the messengers, line leaders etc... (This year I found 2 foam visors that looked liked dalmatians that my top dogs can wear!) I also had a large dog and bowl where we collected bones for awesome behavior. When the dish was full we has a class reward. Anyway, back to the board. Does anyone have any neat ideas or catchy titles for a welcome to kindergarten board relating to dogs? I can find lots of stuff with Dals and scotty dogs like "looks who's spotted in kindergarten?" and that's fine, but I really would like to incorporate the newf! Thanks in advance for any input!

I have a Christian based pet therapy program that is an out reach ministry for our church. I call it "Paws for Jesus."

Also, I always wanted to call my kennel "Living Waters Newfoundlands." Needless to say having a breeding kennel never worked out for me.

What a great idea! I am literally writing this as I am thinking it, so bear with me if I have flight of ideas...I immediately thought of something around water rescue. Something about safety and being able to hitch a ride on a Newf to get to shore when you feel like it is too hard. Pictures of Newfs with life preservers...maybe give out candy lifesavers on a decorated card that could serve as a "pass" or ticket to use sometime in the first couple of weeks when they don't get something assigned exactly right...like I said, thinking and writing...maybe you make the classroom the boat and you are welcoming them on board and that it is safe to come because there are Newfs there to rescue them should they fall overboard so it is okay to try new things because there will be a Newf right there to protect them...maybe you could create a personal Newf for each of them and they could add some decoration to a collar or bandana that they add to it to personalize it and it could hand up on the board to remind them that they are not theree alone...
Okay..enough. I am sure others have better ideas, but i thought i would see if I could help. God, I would love to spend a few days teaching kindergarten. It was the favorite part of my student teaching experience thirty some years ago...although I am sure I only remember the good parts!

another idea for your board is rescued dogs before and after, this would help them understand that even the throwaways in society can generally be helped.

A title could be God and his dogs, sorry cant think of anything catchy

You might consider using dogs as role models...for example, you could have cutouts of dogs with thought bubbles that say something like: I am a good listener, I play nicely, I know how to sit, I like to take naps, I like to share, I am friendly, I am a good worker, etc. Those are pretty common Newfie traits or could apply to many breeds. Kids LOVE puppies, so puppy photos would be cute, too.
