Boaz UTI update

About 5 days into antibiotics Boaz was back to himself. We finished the course, and 3 days later he began to have a bit of urgency and frequent pees again. I took him in with specimen.

No blood or white blood cells, no crystals. No evidence of infection. Xrays showed no stones or prostate enlargement. Digital exam found no abnormalities, although she did mention her fingers may not have been long enough for his size :whistling:

She said no indication he needed more antibiotics. Now we watch him and see. Next step ultrasound if this continues.

Any suggestions or thoughts on this?

I've been to the vets 3 times in 4 days and I have to call them tomorrow. Moonlight was showing no progress whatsoever after 48 hours of one antibiotic. Switched to another and she seems better, but she had started with incontinence night before last and it was getting worse. Today after the switch she seems better. When the cultures get back we will switch again to whatever is required and she'll be on that for 3 weeks. On Wednesday this week I take in a sample (will check proteins I think). Then a week after the antibiotics we go back for a clean sample and more cultures. Also, she's been put on U/d diet food for life. That, I'm no real happy with and neither is she. We did the ultrasound the other day. She did great, and I'm glad we did it because it showed the probable problem - short urethra and bladder located down in pelvis. Explained a lot. So, sounds like we're both on the right path. I'm just a little farther ahead of you and a little more messed up. Good luck to you.

Cran tabs, cheap and inexpensive. They keep those pesky UTI's at bay!

2x daily, 500 mg., each meal.

It could very be what you are feeding he/she. Keeps the system more acid than alkaline.

Just a thought.

Yes, cranberry tabs daily for the past 3-4 weeks, although I could up the dose. No cultures this time, maybe I should do that? But with no sign of issues on the slides, will they find something on a culture? I don't know enough about it. Doc did not seem to think it was necessary.

Food has been the same all along. I can try to test Ph.

Sorry for what you and Moonlight are going through, Nina. I feel your pain and frustration.
