Blueberries?

We've been picking blueberries from our bushes, and I've been adding a liberal handful to the girls' breakfast. Since adding blueberries regularly, Lucy's hot spots are clearing up. Anyone know if there's something in blueberries that would be "healing"?

Wow that's really interesting Laurel. I do know that blueberries are one of those top 10 foods or whatever ... basically they are packed with so much good stuff that everyone should be eating them frequently.

Wonder if frozen would have the same effect? I can't see why not and frozen blueberries are certainly more economical than fresh if you dno't have them growing in your backyard.

Here's one for you. The tannins in blueberrys are the same as those only found in cranberries. So blueberries also help with kidney and bladder problems!

Enjoy!

Wow...I've learned something new!

I had to take Lucy for her rabies vaccine a couple of weeks ago, and within two days of getting it, she had broken out in hot spots ALL over her belly and the insides of her hind legs. I've been washing her every few days with Chlorhexiderm shampoo, and powdering her between days with Gold Bond powder...all of which seemed to be helping...BUT it wasn't until I added the blueberries to her breakfast (and they've been liberally eating them straight off the bushes when I'm not looking, too!) that I noticed a big change in the healing process.

Laurel, did you know that there's a chlorhexidine "flush" which is an astringent. We used it on Bailey and it was so much better than having to soap her up every single day. We still had to bathe her every 2 days but skipping one is so much better. If you're only using it for isolated areas, maybe you'd be interested. It also works great for yeasty ears.

Glad the blueberries are working well for you.

I get it here

Chlorhexiderm Flush

It was the cheapest at the time, $7.95 for 12 ounces. Just use it with a cotton ball. Much less work and no rinsing. I actually thing it worked better than the soap.
