Birthday Bread

We had a family event on Saturday at my parents house, and since it is a two hour drive, we took the pups and spent the night. Dinner was done, and we had 10-12 people crowded into the kitchen/dining area (open concept house) playing cards and hanging out when my sister noticed Bessa had something wrapped up in her paws. She had somehow snagged an entire loaf of french bread off a counter surrounded by people, and no one had noticed a thing.

Stealthy is not an attribute I ever would have thought I'd be applying to her...

Well, I'm glad she is carrying on Hugo's tradition and skills in thievery. It does my heart good to know his legacy lives on. And yes, where bread is concerned, stealth is highly important.

I could tell a lot of tales about the way he would wait until you were engaged in conversation, and then sweep in to nab the object of his desire. My training partner and I used to watch him on purpose and it was amazing how canny he was. He could unzip a bag or loosen the drawstrings with the ability of a human and without making a sound. I miss his antics so much.

Elvis will be picture perfect for weeks and lull us into a false sense of obedience before he strikes. The next thing you know his tongue is down your glass or the leftovers are missing from the counter.
