After an 8 hour drive home (plus 3 hours in futile potty breaks), Æstrid is finally home. We got to meet her mom and grandma and littermates and then we hopped in the car and drove home. I rode in back with the dogs to make sure all went well, and by the time we got home, Æstrid was my little shadow.
She has been adjusting very well. She is pretty shy with new people, but I am sure a lot of it is just nerves. Quite the adventure for a new puppy. She has already discovered how fun it is to stick your paw in the water bowl and then drag it across the floor. She has also learned that mom and dad hate the rain, so it is especially fun to run around the yard while it is raining. We also learned that a newfie puppy can make the most mournful sounds at 3 am for 2 hours straight when she is spending her first night alone.
My cocker, Sophie, and Æstrid are still figuring out who is in charge, but since even the dust bunnies push Sophie around, I am sure that will get sorted out in no time.
