I once rescued a QH/TB mare, from a terrible backyard situation. I spent almost an entire winter sitting vigil as she colicked repeatedly. When spring came and she got healthier and more fit, she was foul under saddle in the ring. On an early spring morning, I took her on the trail to a hidden field in full bloom of green grass and wildflowers. I took off her bridle and let her go. Clinging to her mane we took off and she let out a series of bucks.....in that moment, I had a glimpse of heaven and I think she did, too. That's where our animals take us...bless them all for that!
