Zinc Neutering and Testi Trouble

Orca's 13 months old now and has really started to have...visible sexual organs. I noticed about a week ago that he was licking his testicles quite a lot more than usual so I took a look and it seemed a little red, possible irritated. I decided to wait a bit and see what happens. Well, this morning he was licking again so I checked and it looks bad, guys. Red blotchy sores and possibly pus forming. It might be a bit TMI but I took a picture if anyone wants to see or has any suggestions.

We're going to switch vets, but the old one had a space open to see him today so we'll be taking him in at 4:15. I took him for a walk in the woods today and I noticed that when he runs he keeps his back legs as far apart as possible, and thinking about it he's been putting up a big fight for me to groom him beneath his tail for a long as a month or two. I thought was just piss n vinegar but now I'm wondering if maybe he's been in pain for all this time? I'm feeling super bad that I didn't investigate further. But anyway, he'll get seen this afternoon.

The other thing is that I've thinking about that area now, and he'll be neutered sometime after he's 18 months, likely next summer. Does anyone know anything about Zinc neutering? I'll talk with his breeder about it sometime but figured I'd see if any of you lovely people have experience with it. Seems like it could be a much better way to "sterilize" but I don't know enough to make an accurate assessment.
