Wizard World

Anyone else here into the world of comics? Husband and I have been since forever. We're going to attend a convention this weekend called Wizard World LA. We're really excited about it. It's sort of geeky but lots of fun and something exciting to do with the kids too. We have a huge collection of comic art that we're really proud of. We also go to the big San Diego convention every year.

I collect Animation Art, Specifically Marvin the Martian (I have some really cool ones), Rocky & Bullwinkle (with Boris, Natasha, and Fearless Leader Animainiacs (Hard to find), Yosemite Sam, Buggs Bunny, Star Trek (Cartoon Version), and some Misc. Cells. I also have one with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in a 1940's movie where they became a shooting star cartoon for whatever song they were singing. I can't find the movie it is from. The only Art I have is the Drawings the cells were made from Autographed by either the voice of whomever, the artist/cartoonist, and a couple of hard to find Marvin Theather Posters. I forgot to add I have a couple of 1930ish cartoon panels that Walt Disney used to do for syndication in the newspapers.

Did you ever get a chance to visit one of the Warner Bros. Studio Stores? We really enjoyed them when they were around.

Our current most prized possesions are some original canvas paintings that were used for the new NBC show "Heroes". We are friends with the guy who actually paints Issac's visions.

You have a "Heroes" painting? How cool is that.

I'll read some comics, err... Graphic Novels (that sounds more grown up) from time to time. I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan

I did, but I didn't buy too much there, I usually got stuff from the Studio via people who worked there, etc.

A local artist/cartoonist won the comics contest held by Platinum Studios last year and will be launching his new comic at the Wizard World LA convention. The comic is Hero by Night. Since he is from my hometown, I've been following his story and am hoping his comic takes off. It is his ultimate dream and he has spent many years doing webcomics and trying to break through. It would be an awesome success story to see a small town guy do something BIG!!
