Why does Loki eat bark?

Over the last 3 months, Loki has been picking up a small stick torn piece of mulch on our walks and she crunches and eats it....any thoughts on why she is doing this? Teeth seem fine....thanks!

Mine always eats sticks they find...even my lab does this.

I think they just like it. A bit like them eating grass.

Especially Elm Bark, which is used a lot in herbal medicine

Orca loves to pull bark off logs and devour sticks. I have to keep a close eye on him in the woods or he'll have a feast and poop bricks for the next day or so. ha! He won't fetch anything from the water except sticks, so we bought him a floating stick toy, but he only gets that about 50% of the time!
