Wet chin in old girl

I feel like a fool posting this after being a Newf owner for 9+ years, but here goes. Our 9-1/2 yr old girl started sporting a totally soaked chin about three months ago. She drinks a LOT of water, pees a LOT, but the chin thing feels and smells like drool to me, though she's never been a huge drooler. She has been vet-checked, and nothing wrong except thyroid a little low, for which she has meds. She had myasthenia gravis as an adolescent, but it cleared after a year or so. No other health issues.
I'm trying to get her chin fur clipped short so air can get in, but other than running behind her all day with a towel, do y'all have any suggestions? Bib won't work, as it's wet above the area a bib would cover. Thanks.

I'd worry that the MG has come out of remission. You might want to check into that. It can come and go.

I hope you figure out what's going on. There seem to be some varied symptoms that are indicating something - generally - isn't quite right.

And welcome to NN!!! Looking forward to many stories and pics!

Thanks for the speedy reply, Donna, sometimes it just takes another set of eyes looking at things. I've scheduled another vet visit to check into it.

If you think something isn't quite right, then pursue it until you figure it out. Please update us with any new information.

Welcome to Newf Net!

I can only wish you the best. When our beloved dogs teeter close to the decade mark, I just keep telling the Vet "anything that is Fixable is Good.....it's these non-fixable things that pop up as they get old that really work our hearts." So whether or not all this "drooling" is fixable, let's just hope it's not counting her cards. Good Luck.

Good luck at the vets. If you feel something is wrong, it usually is. Keep trusting your instincts.

I sound very negative here, but Zacky's first sign of having had a stroke was minor continues drooling, leading to a wet chin.....A bit like with people from the side of the mouth. it took ages for me to convince one of our vets he was not 100%....it was only when my vet came back from Sabbatical that he did further studies..........It was his first stroke and only very minor. He had four more over three years.
If you think there is something wrong, there will be. because you know your dog better then any vet. Thinking of you and welcome Ronnie

I would have the vet check all teeth, gums, tongue, under tongue and salivary glands for any kind of growths.

I woul have your vet check everything, but I would also say that Echo (10-1/2) seems to be drooling more as she ages. . .not as much as you're talking about, but it is noticeable.
