Weird computer problem - Need help!

I have two computers, a PC and a Mac for work. Up north, I have no problem getting on the internet with either computer. Down at the beach, I can get on with the Mac, no problem, but the PC is incredibly slow, won't open some websites, and won't download pictures on Newf Net and other sites. I have defraged the PC and run virus and spyware checks, but don't know why it works one place and not another. Anyone have any ideas? I already tried talked to the IT people at school and they are stumped! I could use the Mac, but the head IT person has locked it down and I can't print with it.

Since you mention the beach I assume you are using a wireless card for satellite access. Perhaps those cards come in different "strengths". I offer this because I have a friend who just bought a new computer and still cannot access the satellite when she is in Northern WI. Elsewhere so far it's fine. There are more computer people on NN who can offer much better ideas I'm sure.

My husband used to have a PC for school (laptop of course) and it had trouble connecting to the network, even IN the school. Now he has a Macbook and no problems, the IT guys just explained it as "there's just something special about MACs" other than that, no idea why it is doing that, I know his wireless is much tronger than mine, and my laptop is only a few months old.

When you connect what are you connecting with? If it is a wifi card can you see what protocol it is connecting with? A/B/G/N/Nprototype? I am wondering if your pc's card is connecting poorly with a particular protocol. Also if there are a lot of wireless phones or security cameras around they can interfere with some of the protocols (I believe A/B).

Get Firefox! - I have had the same issues with my new laptop and IE. Some sites it will open and some it wont and its not a connection problem. I dont even care to know what the problem is with IE!
