We found a super tiny mouse in our laundry room tonight. About an inch long. He/She has hair but the eyes aren't open yet or not that we've seen. We have no clue where it came from so reuniting is impossible. And with 2 dogs letting it find it's way back itself is too dangerous. I put it in my daughter old aquarium with some lint from the dryer. I know that towels and such are looped and they can get their nails stuck in it. It is sleeping now, but I have no idea what to feed it. I looked around on the net and it said it has to be fed within 8 hours, but what??? Anyone have any suggestions? Taylor is getting upset now that she thinks the little thing will die within 8 hours if it can't eat.

Your local pet store or 24 hour department store should have some sort of milk replacer in the pet department. I know they carry it for kittens, you'd think they would also carry it for gerbils, mice, guinea pigs, etc.

you could try some milk warmed alittle use an eyedropper.....i raise pet rats....(yes i really do)..and usually they are very good mothers....the only time they left a baby was if they were moving it and got scared.....or something is wrong with it.....i might try to put it back where you found it and see if the mother comes for it ....if not...the chances of it living are very minimal....sorry i can't be more helpfull.....good luck

When we saved Smokey, our 13 year old flying squirrel, froma burning fireplace, the vet gave us a formula to feed him.
Until you can get to the vet, goat's milk or Esbilac should work.
Do not over handle a wild animal, they can die from shock

I'm sorry you're dealing with this and wish you the best. I never had a lot of luck with this kind of thing , but I know friends who have. It's pretty dicey, so please don't feel badly if there's a problem. You guys are really kind - as obviously are so many Newf Netters.

UPDATE! She is still alive. I couldn't find an eyedropper small enough last night so I used the one I had but to no avail, So I soaked a small piece of bread to see if she/he would eat that way. She did!! lapped it right up. I am keeping her warm with good ol' fresh lint from the dryer and I have stimulated her to go to the bathroom. I know it is a touchy situation but I am hoping for the best. Taylor says hello to everyone and she said thank you for your ideas. Stay tuned for more updates. What shall we name her?

**UPDATE**
We found another baby mouse the next night sitting in the middle of the living room floor coming up behind Meekas well, behind...Sadly to report, I fed them this morning and notice less than usually activity. Sadly, an hour later they both were gone. Taylor buried them together in a ring box, we held a ceremony of sorts and she is burying them now. So sad.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Sometimes mother nature can seem cruel, but I'm sure there is a much bigger plan for those two. Thanks for doing what you could.

You did the best you could and were so kind. You and Taylor bonded as you worked together to save these little creatures. Nature has her ways, and they sometimes seem cruel to us. What a wonderful, caring example you set with and for your daughter and your whole household. Please do not feel badly.
