We may be joining the cruciate club :(

I figured our luck would run out eventually. After having 6 newfs in 17 years, I think we may have our first cruciate tear. ;(
Bruce started limping mid Feb and it has come and gone since then. Lately it is getting worse and he basically just lays around. He can put weight on it and walk around but is reluctant to walk much. I took him to my vet and they couldn't find a drawer movement..but he wasn't sedated so may have been tense. We have an appt wed, apr 4th with an ortho surgeon who does the TTA procedure so we will see what's up. If he diagnoses him with a tear, we will keep him there for surgery. He was just 5 in Dec and has always been such a playful, active newf. I just want him back to his normal goofy self as soon as possible. I will keep you posted...

:( :(

LuLu just had her 2nd cruciate repair on Thursday. Her presentation was similar to Bruce's. She popped out of my car in mid-January and was 'limpy' off and on for weeks even with very restricted activity. Her draw wasn't positive but her surgeon felt she was too loose not to have at least a significant partial tear. She had a TTA and came home Friday walking on all 4 legs. Her first repair was a traditional lateral suture and this procedure has been so much easier on her.

BTW: we had to wait 2 months before her surgery because I just had a knee replacement in mid-Feb., so we will rehab our knees together.

Good luck with your upcoming consultation!

Hope it's not...you've had a good run. Hope your boy gets back to normal in no time...whatever the outcome, I'll add him to my prayers along with your Hunter.

That is a real Bummer.........But except for having to keep katy on leash and contained, she has done so well.....Walking from the moment she recovered....She did have the TPLO and only did the injury two weeks before the surgery.

I just hope it all goes well....good luck and well wishes
