Ways to keep our dogs cool

Well we all know it's hot at times.

I know that a well groomed newf will cope better in this heat.

Walks are early morning only and depending on conditions.

Tiled floors, channeled out belly hair, big fan as no air conditioning.

Cool not cold water given.

Cooling coats just in case.

Anyone else have any tips on keeping their dogs cool

I think you have just about covered it. I know England is having a very hot summer (was watching Wimbledon last week!) We also have a drought and hot and no air conditioning, not usually necessary on the west coast of Canada. We have many fans and walk at 5.30am!! Rest of the day Splash and Mowglie snooze.

We have ac here but sometimes when Tootsie came in from outside in the heat of the day for a potty break, I would take a washcloth and wet it down with cool water and put between her thighs to help cool down her core. It seemed to help cool and calm her.

My Tootsie was a puppymill survivor, she had her vocal cords cut leaving her with laryngeal paralysis. Her windpipe was compromised so her breathing could become labored with the heat and humidity.

How could they be so cruel to do that.

Puppy mill owners cut the cords to keep puppies and dogs quiet, some put a pipe down their throats to de-bark the dogs. Tootsie had a lot of scar tissue in her throat, so much that when she had to go under for surgery they had to intubate with a tube used for cats. :(

Mankind can be so cruel evil when it comes to making a dollar.

We just have fans too and we live in the Australian Summer heat... I actually think dogs that do not have AC deal better in heat as the hot cold change makes it more difficult. I just see this from friends who keep theirs in AC... My dogs do quite well in the heat. have never over heated or stressed. We are not sill and adjust to times of play and exercise. Lots of swimming is a great idea to. We love the water.
Also we shave the bellies, so they can touch the cold tiles. Only strip the top, but shave bellies.
We are lucky though, because we do not often get humidity, that is the real killer
