Want to do a parade?

I am getting more and more excited about all of this! Each idea is awesome and I can't wait for July to come! What a great time we're all going to have.

If someone wants to make a banner that is ok with me. They do have an announcer in the downtown area that tell about each parade entry. But not all the people can hear so a banner may be a good idea

Emmett Morgan and Recon did parades in our town, and many many people clapped as they walked by, of course we did this for the SAR group and they were vested, but still it was neat for people to see the big brutes can do the work to, one deputy yelled to me, what does he do for the group? provide rides back to camp? smart @sss LOL
didnt think a newf was capable, after all, the gold ole boy mentality up north is "if it aint a GSD it aint a dog worth workin"

anyway, very funny comments above! i think it is a wonderful idea, if any are service dogs i think they should wear their uniforms, maybe some can pull carts, others costumes, i am sure it was mentioned as i skimmed over some of the posts and apologize if it already was mentioned!

Didn't someone say something about there being a "theme" for the parade? Should we be in some sort of costume? OR...can we all wear our "NN Get Together" t-shirts?? This is going to be soooo much fun!
I know....Newman can wear his ladybug costume (he got it for his first Halloween....it now needs a little adjusting ). He has antenna and everything!
But Newman's nickname is "the beast" just because he our theiving rogue and the one that starts all the wrestling matches...not because he is beastly.
NO NO I have it now. My brother is a photographer (his 2nd job) and he has the coolest black feather angel wings (as a prop). Wouldn't Newman be lovely as "the black angel?"

Hi Guys,I was surfing on the newf emprioum(sp)site. They have Balloons with Black Newfs on them and there are three different sayings that are available as well. I was thinking Newf Power.Anyhow,they are $11.95 for 25 balloons.Considering the exchange rate.I can't offer to buy them. But if some one else is willing?They also have a yellow caution tape that says Caution Newf Drool.Karen

What a great idea! If you guys agree, I could talk to either Ted or Mel, and see if they could bring some of the balloons with them to National. I could pick them up there, and avoid shipping costs....

We can put a small ice chest and water for the dogs in Moose’s covered - wagon with no problem. I know neither one of us can go far with out water so we were going to put our water in already. So we will just put in enough for everyone.

How about tossing packets of "Newf Drool Candy" from Newf Emporium? Maybe Ted will give you a wholesale discount. Wish I could be there too. Maybe your local network affiliate will cover the parade. This sounds like such a hoot!

I contacted Ted from Newf Emporium. I am getting balloons from him for everyone to have. He may donate something for the brown bag raffle too.
This is the Annie Oakley parade. Does everyone know who Annie Oakley is? She was known for her expert shooting. She traveled the world in the wild west show demonstrating her shooting skills. Any sort of western theme would be perfect. I will double check to see if the parade has a special theme this year. Some times it does and some times it does not.

Well, We could always put drool bibs on the dogs and make them look like the ones cowboys used to cover their faces.You know the Triangle type hankies.What if we all wore our t shirts which would identify us as a group. But we could all wear cowboy hats,Karen

OK, now I know I've lost my mind.This thread has pulled me from "that would be so nice to go to the get together" to " If I miss this I am going to need therapy"
I will be in Toronto on vacation the week before that, and it lands smack dab in the middle of my vacation. A little research on Mapquest, and I find it's about 8 hours south. I've convinced DH that we could drive back to NS through the states, making it a true holiday.
Jeanne, have you set a deadline for registration?
Murphy goes everywhere with me, so all I have to worry about is getting him across the border.(Anyone who knows what documentation I need, please let me know....)
