Update on my job interview

Thought I would give an update on my job interview. It's several days past the day they were to contact me and I haven't heard anything. I'm assuming they've hired someone else. Thank you for your well wishes. I'm kinda bummed. Ah well. Try, try again. *sigh*

Oh Rachel.... don't give up... You know the saying, "no news is good news". Have you thought of calling them??? Sometimes it's a good thing to show you're still interested....

I agree, go ahead and call them, at least you will know for sure. Keep your head up if this doesn't work, the next one will :)

Rachel, dont get discouraged. It took 7 months from the time I applied at starbucks until started. Hiring just takes time. I would give them a call.

Calling back is indeed..a good idea..and always..like a juggler..keep several interviews/searches..going every week. You need to have the continued pressure..of 'hearing what they are looking for...wanting'..in your meetings with those who hire. As soon as you get out..of an interview..sit in your car and list the items you felt you scored well on..and those that may have 'blind-sided' you. Look at those who are prob. there on the same interview. Decode the people you see..who are already there as staff etc. It becomes a detective situation. You prob. already know to see how many other business situations..are hiring for a very similar position..and then go interview at some of those..to get test interviews..just to 'get the temp. of the water'..so to speak. Everytime you go out..you will be better prepared. Good luck..and good ..studying.

Depending on what company you interviewed with, it could be MONTHS before you hear anything. Our son interviewed with a major medical center at a university. They sounded very interested in him, but then he didn't hear anything. He took another job. Two months later they made him an offer, but didn't say when they wanted him to start. He accepted their offer, but kept working the other job. Several weeks later, they asked him to start in about a month. It's a darn good thing he didn't just wait for them to get around to hiring him. He works there now, and is learning a lot on the job...but it was a loooooong process.

Not all places are like that, but some are. It's worth a phone call, to politely let them know that you are still interested in the job, and to ask if there is any other information you could provide them with.

I agree with the others. Give them a jingle and let them know you're still interested. Sometimes that's all it takes.

I didn't get the job, but I did find out more. I was second choice. They said I did a great interview and they all liked me (the three department heads/Doctor's I would be under - The Science head, the Technology head, the Mathematics head). The reason they went with the other candidate was because I had so much experience with computers. *sigh* My reaction to that is "WTF?"

This Saturday I test for Library Page at our local library. They'll probably tell me I'm over-qualified because I can use Google. :

So, Rachel are you saying that they think you are overqualified??????

I'm sorry you didn't get the job. But, things do happen for a reason. Probably a much better job will be comin' down the pike for you.

Hugs and good thoughts!

Rachel, It is frustrating to not get something you want , especially like a job. I truly do believe things happen for a reason. Be persistent, and I agree with the others about keeping in front of them. Plus, they do not call back many times when they say they will. My daughter was called for a job 6 months later !! Double plus, the feedback from them was excellent about your interviewing and people skills, so that's great!!
