This weekend i showed penny sydney and one of penny`s pups.
Sydney took best of winners and best of breed, the first show, he ALMOST took RESERVE best in show!!! she had him in that place and at the last minute moved a dobe in front of him, out of a huge group of dogs, all the BOB winners of all the breeds went up for BIS and RBIS
there were no group placements, and she told my friend she really really liked him, he just needs to mature!!!
than the second show we went in for BIS and the judge told me, on my down and back, "He is a gorgous boy give him a bit more time"
we did not get the BIS OR RESERVE and the last day we went in, and did not make the cut, the little dogs did though ;)
so,, penny was on the verge of heat stroke, the show was outside, in a field and it was 85 degrees, way to warm for her, so i pulled her for the next two shows, and her daughter took best female, though she is a bit loose, and in the funky growth stage of looking like a woodtick, her head needs to catch up with the rest of her, and she did not want to gait for me becouse it was so warm.
she gaited for me when we got home go figure!
the UKC is soooo relaxed and the people were all very nice and good natured and helpful, i had a totally relaxed good time.
YEAH SYDNEY!!!

Yeah, Sydney! Sounds like a great weekend all around. I'm so glad you're having a great show experience with UKC.

I can totally relate to the woodtick phase. If she's from your Oct. litter, she and Emmy are about the same age. Emmy is at that stage too...I've been calling her peanut head lately, and she has a peanut brain to match! What a goof! I've been keeping her out of the ring lately because of the heat and the goofy growth stage.

Congrats Sar!

Congratulations! That's great! I have a question, what are all the different awards they can get, I understand Best of Breed, and then I guess there's Best in Group? And then Best in Show, what are these other ones? Can I look them up somewhere on the akc website or something?

Thanks! congratulations again to sidney!

Bluedog you have my sympathies! LOL
i would have to say, we are going to pull charlie till she matures a bit more than finish her, she is not gaiting, and they were really patient with me at the show, she did gait on the go around the last time, but we need her to learn, her mom has been working her, but the heat makes them lazy sometimes, and she just did not want to work.
she is fine here, it is cooler by the lake, we gaitedher this morning and she looked nice.
so.....
until we get past the "peanut head" or the "woodtick" stage, we will have to be patient.
Sydney needs his chest yet, in time that will come in, soon i hope, i want to show him at the national specialty.

Amy, this was UKC
so at this show, there was not group placements, had there been syd would have had a group 3 on the first show.
they have first place, best male/female,and best of breed.
than all the BOB go for BIS and Reserve BIS
that is it.
some of the UKC shows have group placements, i would like to hit some of them.

one thing i like, it is not quite as COSTLY to finish your dog in the UKC as AKC and with the economy like it is here by myself, i am enjoying this.
