As I mentioned last week, Fin is going for arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday for ED of his left elbow. Spoke with the ortho dr this morning, to clear up some questions we had, and we also discussed PRP - platelet rich plasma and adequan injections. He brought these up at the time of diagnosis. Any experience with either of these treatments? We've been reading about them and are wondering if anyone has used either.

No experience with those, but I've heard a lot of folks here talk positively about adequan injections. I think if you do a search you may find a lot of info on that treatment.

Will be thinking of you and Fin on Wednesday. Let us know how it goes!

I did adequan on my senior labs for arthritis. I convinced its a miracle drug and hope they do human trials, so I can get the shots. It took about 2 weeks before I noticed a change. The initial "loading" was a shot every 3-4 days for a few weeks then once a week then every 2 weeks. We got it down to a once a month shot. Thor went from slowly getting up and hating stairs to running around like a new dog.

platelet rich plasma is all the go in the human world now we do a tonne of them and also automic injections withthe patients own blood in ijury areas..i would give it a go. it can do no harm if done in an aseptic technique. Stem cell therapy is the higher end of all of this and there is a lot of proof that this does well.........

Adequan gave our lab mix an extra year of quality life. It was amazing how much it helped him.

I've got no input but am sending giant (((HUGS))), love, and Newfy kisses! Elwood had arthroscopic surgey on both Elbows before he was one, and aside from having to crate him (he kept walking around trying to get comfy), it was a relatively easy recovery and THE BEST thing we ever did!
