I am the bridge
between what was and what can be
I am the pathway to a new life.

I am made of mush
because my heart melted when I saw you
scared... not eating .. depressed and lonely
afraid to love

For one little time you were mine
I fed you and loved you with my whole heart and made you whole.

I am made of steel
because when the time came
when you were well and sleek and when your eyes shone
and when your tail wagged with joy
came the hard part

I let you go.. not without tears
but without regret
for you are safe forever

I love you Monty

Oh...after just loosing my Dexter, this just leaves me crying...Monty is such a beautiful boy and I know he took a piece of your heart with him when he left....but your poem said it all and was just beautiful! Hugs to you for doing such a great thing for Monty and his new mommy!
