Mom and Mom took me to a new place. I didn't really want to because it was hot and time for my swim but mom wouldn't let me get in the pool. Instead they brushed me out and made me look all spiffy so I knew we were going somewhere. When they parked the van we had to walk and walk, that was pretty good I got to smell new things. It was hot though, but my moms look out for me and brought water. Then we went up a little path that was hard to walk on the dirt was soft and I kept sinking in it. It was fun, mom should get some for me to dig and roll in. When we got to the top there was more of the soft dirt and water! Lots and lots of water! Wow the biggest pool EVER! Mom made me wait by the path so I got to smell more new things. Then my friend Tom showed up with all his toys. I'm not allowed to touch his stuff I don't know why but he always brings toys and treats for me with him so that's ok. Tom likes to make me sit and stand and lay down a lot while he plays with his toys. Sometimes I get up and go give Tom kisses. I like him. Some of Tom's friends came too. Tom has good friends, they always pet me and tell me I'm a good boy and give me treats for just sitting. Mom almost always makes me do harder stuff then that to get treats.
After a while mom and mom got out my special swimming vest. They used to make me wear it all the time but I'm big now and don't have to wear it in the pool anymore! I like it though because it means SWIM TIME! Mom put the really long leash on my vest too. I guess she doesn't want me to get lost or something. I suppose it's ok sometimes I can get distracted in a new place and forget I'm supposed to stay near her.
The water was different then my pool it tasted funny and I couldn't see through it like at home. I got to swim and fetch things and chase splashes. Mom and Tom came in too. I wonder why Mom didn't wear the stuff she wears at home for the pool. Humans are silly sometimes. After a long time we played the towel game! It's one of my favorites! I try to shake water all over mom and she jumps and makes noise and hide behind my towel. It's funny. Then she'll rub me with the towel. We usually do this a couple of times. She sometimes says things I don't understand, I'm Taver, who is Silly Git? Maybe it's a nickname.
We went and sat on the soft stuff on a really high spot for a bit. Mom, Tom and his friend were making all kinds of funny hand waves and jumping around. It was pretty distracting. It was very hard to stay still while they did that, and the soft stuff kept moving under my paws. We got down from there, and ran down to another spot. That was fun. It got dark and I was really tired from all the playing. Than someone very far away started making big noises and bright lights in the sky. It wasn't scary but I had to watch that very closely to make sure everyone was safe. One of Tom's friends kept running to the water. I have to pay attention to make sure she doesn't get to close to it without me to be there in case she needs me to get her back out. Humans need someone to watch over them in the water, they just aren't built for it like me.
Mom said we had to go home. I wanted to stay, but I was really tired and wanted my dinner so I guess that was a good idea. We got in the van and I laid down in my spot. I hope mom takes me here again.
