Sudden Rear Leg Lameness after long car ride

Just arrived to our vacation house in the Outer Banks, and after 6 hours in the car where Jasmine insisted on standing most of the way, she is now lame in her back right leg, not wanting to put any weight on it. I'm looking for a vet here who can see us on a Sunday, but meanwhile, looking for any input. Possibly ACL I know, but looking for other ideas too.

Maybe she is just stiff. When I picked Adam up after boarding with my vet he could hardly stand let alone walk. Within a day he was moving normally. He just didn't get to move around as much as what he does when he is home. Usually a torn ACL is the result of turning quickly or running not standing. I'd let her rest but still get her moving a bit. It may make a world of difference

She is putting a bit more weight on it this am, but regardless since I'm a helicopter mom I took her to the vet. He agrees, probably not ACL. Did a test for Lyme and UTI - both negative and gave her a prescription for anti-inflammatories. Letting her sleep it off today and hoping for the best....Yes, maybe she is just stiff from the long drive. Worth the $300 in any case to get piece of mind on my part....This is my girl who has EPI, in remission with Myasthenia Gravis (and Megaesophagus) and now currently dealing with Dry Eye. I don't want any more anything. She is the most lovable, sweet, huggable snuggle bug there is....I hate to see her in any pain or discomfort.....

Glad he doesn't think ACL, I hope it's just that she stood up all that long time. Let us know how she does and enjoy your vacation :)

Resting most of the day, so fingers (and paws) crossed she feels better tomorrow. At times she is walking almost normal, at other times she is still keeping the foot raised....I just want to go home now!

Zeke was the same way after a 4 hr drive to OC, just takes a bit of time after they put so much weight on one part of their body. You'll be just fine....on the drive home make sure and make a few extra stops to stretch out (p.s. sometimes they don't want to get back in ;))

I am sorry, I wish I'd seen this sooner. I live on the Outer Banks. The only vet with after hours emergency care is Roanoake Island Animal Clinic in Manteo. I hope that you were able to find someone and that everything was ok!

I hope Halli, feels better soon. And thanks for posting, it has given me a lot to think because we are going on a 7 hour drive to the SouthEastern Newfoundland Club water tests in a few weeks and my Newf does not really like to settled in the van, she likes to stand most of the time. :/
