Stomach Ulcer

I don't post on a regular basis but I appreciate all the feedback I've received in the past. My Senior Newfy has been having vague problems for a while and today he was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer. Has anyone had experience with canine stomach ulcers? Should I consider switching foods? The vet also thinks he may have seen something near his heart or esophagus and want s to keep an eye on it. I have to wait 3 weeks for another evaluation.

How old is Senior? Is he on any type of pain meds? Rymadil, Deramaxx, Previcox? Any other kind of meds, or supplements that could irritate his stomach?

Has he had a complete CBC done lately? You want to be sure that nothing is effecting his liver, spleen, etc.

Hugs to your boy,

He was 8 in December and he's not on any meds. I had him on vitamins for a while but that was it. I think I'll request some bloodwork next visit in 3 weeks. Thanks.

Ulcers can be caused by bacteria. You might want to check into that, if you aren't already.

I hope you get some more answers when you go in again.

Good thoughts being sent to your boy!
