snotty nose?

Yogi has had a snotty nose for the past few weeks. It looks very mucousy and yellowish-green. Is it possible for dogs to get colds? What is the best remedy for this? He is also breathing strangely lately--loud and a little labored, although he doesn't do this all the time. Asthma? Allergies? Cold?

Definietely an upper respiratory infection....and he could be developing, or already have developed, pneumonia. I would take him in ASAP to the vet.

Please call your vet pronto. I went through this in the spring with my eldest dog and it requires immediate attention. Better be safe than sorry.

Yellow/green mucous means infection. He needs to go to the Vet! If his breathing is labored, you have a URI going on as said....and very possibly pneumonia.

Dogs don't get colds....but they do get allergies and other nasty viruses...and bacterial infections.

I'd think they'll put him on antibiotics at the barest minimum.
