Smokie goes to her forever home

Today, amongst near blizzard conditions, Smokie went to her forever home. As usual is was a bitter sweet moment. But the good news is, she is only going about a 10 minute drive from here!!!!! I can see her often and probably will be grooming and boarding her as I have her new "sister" Sammy. Below is a photo of the happy family. Smokie is on the right and Sammy is on the left. I know she will have a good home. She jumped right in their van without even looking back. So she knew it was the right place and she is happy. Her new dad is retired so he will be with her a lot to help with the adjustment. He has come over about 3 times a week to see Smokie and to let Sammy (his newf) and Smokie get to know each other. I have taken her to his house, so she is familiar with that also. He even brought me some of his kibble so I could switch Smokie slowly. As I said, she will have a good forever home

Jeannie, she's smiling at you
, telling you thank you and she'll be OK not to worry. I'm sure she'll be well taken care of and loved and she already has a buddy!

These are my favorite threads to read on newf net! Plus the rescue pictures and background stories you and Annie have told! Love them. Good luck Smokie!

Forever Home is such a great term to use, I hope Smokie will be happy with her new family.

A job well done Jeannie & Gary, you both deserve a medal for the love and care you give to your own newfs and rescue newfs.

regards
Kelly

I'm happy for you that you will be able to see her in the future. It's also nice to know she will have a playmate. :D
