I think the manta ray video should have been here...oops. Here are some pics from our shark dive and I added one from the stingray swim. Some are not the best quality but enjoy...

That is my worst nightmare come to life. Even if I'm swimming in a lake and seaweed grazes my leg, I scream like I'm being murdered and have to get out ASAP (because when I'm in the water, anything that touches me IS a fish, in my mind.). (Leonard, I have an irrational fear of fish too, but I can and do go fishing! But the idea of being touched by one or bitten by one while IN THE WATER...OMG. I'd die a thousand deaths.)

Way to go for being so brave! And great shots!

I HATE SHARKS (not really cause I do love all aniamls, but in my mind!) As a child my sister took me to see Jaws....messed me up for life!

Great shots..but as Leonard said...better you than me!

I love the pictures but the comments here are almost better! I so wish we had a good underwater camera - what kind do you use? I haven't been diving in about two years and my husband has no interest in ever getting certified, but my whole family is and we try to go together every few years.

:icon_bb: Having a wild hair up our butts, 2 my housemates and I took off one Fall Friday afternoon from Southern IL Univiversity in Carbondale, IL, drove all night to go to Disney World and Daytona Beach and back in time for Monday late morning classes. It was within a year of the release of Jaws, and I think my first time at a ocean beach. And that is ALL I could think of. I don't think I got in water much deeper than between my knee and ankle. :shocker:

I just had a good chuckle reading all of these comments.

I was sooo scared!! I don't think I ever looked at the screen on my camera. It was basically up against my chest and I was just snapping. I was so afraid one was going to take my hands and camera. lol In the video, I looks like I saw a ghost. I remember as a kid watching a comedy show where actors wore wigs which stood up when they were scared. That was me in this shark video. Some of my hair came out of the ponytail holder and was standing straight up, plus my eyes were bugging out of my head. It's the funniest thing ever. I never knew I could look like that.

Maggie, I have an Olympus underwater camera and a housing unit for it. I need the housing bc the camera can only go down to 30 ft on it's own. Some of the divers I know have thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment. This was a couple hundred and I'm happy with what I have. :) We should plan a dive trip!!! I finally saw my first turtle in Maui. There was a couple of them and they were awesome!

Ok, I just almost had a panic attack just thinking about doing this. I went snorkeling for the first time in the Keys this year. I saw a barracuda and FREAKED OUT. :shocker: I realized I do NOT like the deep water...there could be more barracuda, or rays, or...ugh...SHARKS!!! I made my husband hold my hand the whole time. :shuffle:

My experience to a tee! I couldn't stay in the water....it's a whole other planet down there.

It's funny you said this. Before we were certified, we went snorkeling in the Keys too. They told us there was a huge barracuda beneath the boat and to make sure we took a good look at him. What they forgot to mention was that there was a reef shark hanging out by the coral they told us to swim to. I didn't think I was able to swim so fast. I grabbed my sons hand and told him to swim and swim fast. We got back on the boat and they laughed at us and said if we told you about the shark, you would have never gone in. They were right!! To this day, I still can't believe I willingly did the shark dive.

I got certified in Key West. I liked the barracuda, they're just fish with huge underbites!
Um, I respectfully disagree....;)

The day before the snorkeling, we went fishing. We hooked a huge yellowtail and started reeling him in. All of a sudden we saw something move fast in the water, and all that was left of our fish was its head. Yup, a barracuda ate him. They swim faster than me.
