:icon_bb: Having a wild hair up our butts, 2 my housemates and I took off one Fall Friday afternoon from Southern IL Univiversity in Carbondale, IL, drove all night to go to Disney World and Daytona Beach and back in time for Monday late morning classes. It was within a year of the release of Jaws, and I think my first time at a ocean beach. And that is ALL I could think of. I don't think I got in water much deeper than between my knee and ankle. :shocker:As a child my sister took me to see Jaws....messed me up for life!
Ok, I just almost had a panic attack just thinking about doing this. I went snorkeling for the first time in the Keys this year. I saw a barracuda and FREAKED OUT. :shocker: I realized I do NOT like the deep water...there could be more barracuda, or rays, or...ugh...SHARKS!!! I made my husband hold my hand the whole time. :shuffle:That is my worst nightmare come to life. Even if I'm swimming in a lake and seaweed grazes my leg, I scream like I'm being murdered and have to get out ASAP (because when I'm in the water, anything that touches me IS a fish, in my mind.). (Leonard, I have an irrational fear of fish too, but I can and do go fishing! But the idea of being touched by one or bitten by one while IN THE WATER...OMG. I'd die a thousand deaths.)
Way to go for being so brave! And great shots!
My experience to a tee! I couldn't stay in the water....it's a whole other planet down there.I went snorkeling for the first time in the Keys this year. It's funny you said this. Before we were certified, we went snorkeling in the Keys too. They told us there was a huge barracuda beneath the boat and to make sure we took a good look at him. What they forgot to mention was that there was a reef shark hanging out by the coral they told us to swim to. I didn't think I was able to swim so fast. I grabbed my sons hand and told him to swim and swim fast. We got back on the boat and they laughed at us and said if we told you about the shark, you would have never gone in. They were right!! To this day, I still can't believe I willingly did the shark dive.Ok, I just almost had a panic attack just thinking about doing this. I went snorkeling for the first time in the Keys this year. Um, I respectfully disagree....I got certified in Key West. I liked the barracuda, they're just fish with huge underbites!
