I am annoyed with the Biogroom company because they don't list their ingredients on their website and didn't respond to my inquiry asking about it. They must not be too proud of what they use in their products...probably a bunch of parabens and sodium lauryl sulfate. I'm looking for a shampoo that doesn't contain these ingredients.

Hi Patti,

I have tried that shampoo and disliked it greatly. I prefer Blackout by Bio groom for my dogs being shown.

Charity, I too am concerned about those ingredients. Most shampoos, human and animal the first ingredient is Sodium Laurelth Sulfate, which I have a very bad reaction to myself. I use Burts Bees shampoo or the Jason line, which are a good value and lather up ok. I use Chris Christensen Fresh Start on Rafe, as his groomer uses it on her show Newfs.

Isle of Dogs makes a great shampoo for black coats and it does not dry the coat out.

I love the Isle of the Dog black shampoo and use it monthly. Chris Christensen has a great black on black shampoo that I have used. Then there is plush puppy that covers really well, but it will trun your hands purple.

Not sure, but check Tropiclean product line. Also, check Earthbath, Espree, Sheapet, and Absolutely Natural Grooming Products.

You really don't need to use blackening shampoos all over. Typically - you only use them sparingly where needed and not as a regular shampoo.

How old is your Newf? if it's a puppy - the blackening shampoos won't help the reddish puppy fur.

I love the Isle of Dog products as well as Plush Puppy. My guys can't tolerate Chris Christensen products.
