Sepia

Has anyone ever used Sepia to help regulate short cycling in their bitch? It is made from the ink of a Cuddle Fish, and has been used for human woman's hormone remedy.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Susan

Wow. Sorry but I am only familiar with many botanicals.

I have a friend who is a homeopathic. I'll ask her. In homeopathy they go beyond just botanicals!

Edited: Hey, that was fast. She was online! LOL. It's a homeopathy treatment, and she can give no advice in its use in the reproductive area of animals.

Susan! CHeck out what I found!

I don't know the woman, don't know who she is. But here is a reference to Sepia. Quoted from her site below:
~~~~
For bitches that do not come in season or the seasons are not normal Dr. Deva Kaur Khalsa recommends the following homeopathic remedies;Sepia 30c-one dose every 10 days for 3 doses Pituitary 30c- one dose in the beginning of the month This combination can bring the majority of bitches into season
~~~~
So I'm going to do some looking around about Dr. Deva Kaur Khalsa since it appears this is his recommendation.

Hope this helps. You now have me curious too and Homeopathy is not really my area!! LOL.

Okay I'm back: Dr. Deva Kaur Khalsa is a she and has a veterinary practice in Philidelphia using holistic practices. She is also a supporter of GSE (Grape Seed Oil). So now we know who she is!!

It is an interesting site. I was a little taken aback when I read this:
~~~~~~
This compound consisting of Garlic, Rue, Sage, Thyme, Eucalyptus, Wormwood and Vegetable Charcoal has many great internal cleansing properties
http://www.naturalrearing.com/ARTICLES/MarinaZacharias/HealthyBreeding.HTM
~~~~

She gives this to her preganant moms during pregnancy. I wish she'd go more into it.
I was floored because Rue is an abortifacient.
I guess now I'll have to go track that product down and take a look! LOL. It must be prepared differently or something. Or a breeder waits and a dog is out of the "Miscarriage" danger zone when it is given. Then it would make sense. And I could see where the parasites would be kept at bay via the milk.
Does raise some questions though!!
Robin

I spent more time reading. I know we were looking for Sepia, and I posted this site that has some information. But the more I read about the herbals being used, the more I would personally give major caution.

Just in case others are happening onto this thread.
