Sadie saga continues. Please help

So I posted before about Sadie and whip worms. She was treated a week ago with panacur. Her bloodwork according to the vet is pretty non impressive. We have done 4sets of X-rays, a barium swallow. And she eats fine one day and then vomits. The vet was suspicious of food sensitivity/ IBD so we opted for a home cook diet. She kept that down yesterday. This morning vomitited it back up. She is on Pepcid 2x a day and flagyl. She also has had weight loss and is more lethargic then normal. At this point I dont know what to do or where to look. The vet suggested a biopsy on her? She is 20 months. I just want my dog better.

So sorry you are going through this rough time with your girl...could she be anxious at all? My grand furchild did this and they found that he had extreme separation anxiety. I would consult another Vet before doing anything invasive. My thoughts are with you as I know how worrisome it is when your baby is sick!

I am calling for a second opinion today. The problem started out of the blue with the vomiting last week.

I'm not sure. I'd have to look it up. I'm willing to do anything at this point for her. I just look in her eyes and can tell she doesn't feel well.

So sorry poor Sadie is going through this.
Has anyone suggested some type of malabsorption disease like EPI? EPI symptoms usually include diarrhea instead of vomitting though.
Did the bloodwork include kidney, liver and pancreatic functions? Have they retested to make sure she is free of whips?
I went through a long episode of digestive issues with my Sophie about three years ago and I know how frustrating it is when the tests don't give you any answers.
I agree though I would not consent to a biopsy unless there is something specific they need to biopsy for.
Diet wise go heavy on the carbs and back off on the protein for a bit.

Hoping that others see this and come up with some thoughts. It's obvious that something is wrong if she's miserable and you can tell that. How long has the whole thing been going on at this point? Nothing looked odd with the x-rays?

I'm so sorry your baby is having so much trouble with her tummy. Are you on Facebook? There are several newf groups there with lots of very experienced newf people, many of whom are members here but don't post here very often anymore.

Thanks. Ok so the home cooked diet Sadie has kept down and been almost like her old self. Now she got into a little dry food this afternoon. And again vomited the kibble. Shes is keeping Down the home cooked diet though. Allergy maybe?

Maybe somethings up with the food, was it a new bag? With allergies they still keep it down (well Myra does) it shows up with numerous other issues. Have you changed anything with her diet? (within 2/3 months)

I am really looking into a raw diet but not sure I know some people do bones others don't. I have looked at all the raw sites. I don't know how much to feed, what recipies to follow. For now the home cooked diet is chicken, sardines , potatoes , or pasta ,oil , bonemeal , multi vitamins , salt substitute and something else I am forgetting. She eats this no problem. The dry food I have not switched she's been on fromm she eats it and vomits it almost immediately. At least this is new information. I can tell the vet when I update her this week.

I am suspicious of the bag. Did this coincide with opening a new bag of kibble?

I'm glad you've found something that's working for now!!!

The vet did a chest X-ray and everything was fine. She thinks it's a food issue. We also have her on Pepcid. Which seems to be helping. We did take her off the Fromm even though she has been on that for a long time. We are looking into a venison/ bison type protein or a fish based food. The vet did mention her esophagus could have been inflamed from when she did vomit and acid reflux !! She has picked back up some weight and had no vomiting/ regurgitation. Since she went for her barium.

I am not expert but reading through the posts in this thread it sure sounds like maybe you got a bad bag of kibble. You are feeding a variety of foods from home so it doesn't sound much like an alergy. I too am reluctant to go raw. I know that it would be better but it seems like a huge responsibility to ensure a balanced diet. Have you looked at Orijen - they have a new type of kibble - it's freeze dried so that it has the ease of kibble but is closer to raw. I haven't priced it yet - it could be really high.
