Yah-hoo! I'm the first :D
do you use Bachs Rescue Remedy? I'm curious, I've read alot about it, bought it, but not sure how much to use for Kiefer and Tonka and for what applications is it best used for. I've been using it for trips to the vet..but not sure if I used to much or not enough..any input would be greatly appreciated

Newbee,

Ya beat me out!

Actually, I'll have to go check my bottle, but I do recall in more serious situations, you dose them about every 30 minutes. Sorry, the bottle is downstairs.

I can personlly attest to the greatness of Rescue Remedy. When I entered Sam and Panda in the draft test as a team I was fit to be tied. I drank 1/2 bottle of it and I was calm as calm could be. The best part is they passed!!

Annie also has used it on Cora when I groomed her. We call it "THE STUFF" It worked wonders for her too.

I used it on Sara when traveling. She took 10 drops every 2 hours, if I remember right.

You can't overdose on it. I swear by it for us too (as Jeannie said) it really calms you. There are many situations I don't think I could have gotten through without it.

Do you really use it for yourselves? I thought Jeannie was joking! We used it for Bison when he was three months old at a huge fireworks celebration (under the guidance of the breeder who was there). We had a basement door open and we were ready to run if he had shown any stress. But no, he slept through most of it, then crawled under our chairs and tangled his leash, looked up at one big boom, then fell asleep again. What a good boy!

Our family uses it all of the time too. The Bach flower remedies were actually designed for people, but they've found that they work great for our pets too. Rescue Remedy is actually very useful with children (as in the first day of school etc...). It's pretty impressive when you give it to children and see how positively it effects them.

A few years ago, Russell took his Scout Trip on a 3 week expedition to Manitoba... This was a Boy Scout "High Adventure" and they were going to be canoeing and portaging in the wildnerness for 2 weeks... with no contact with civilization. That freaked me out... and I was literally a basket case about it.

The night before he left I was so upset that Sadie had 2 seizures. So, I knew that I had to get a grip, and I used Rescue Remedy. And it helped. ALOT.

I have heard from people that it doesn't always help, but I think it's worth trying.

Ummmm Jeannie...exactly HOW BIG was this 1/2 bottle that you drank???
:D

I think I need some for Lucy, our Golden...sometimes she's a nutcase! However, we're having her thyroid tested now...so maybe the rescue remedy won't be needed.

Love it - have used it for about 13 years with great success on our family. I have never used it for the dogs but I will now!

If "rescue remedy" does not work for some folks (it didn't for us), there is an alternative. Or for anyone who may like something different...

The Animal Apawthecary creates glycerine, not alcohol based herbal products for pets. We found "Tranquility Blend" very helpful for our very over eager rescue who also feared new experiences.

You can find it at:
http://www.petsage.com/

It contains: Organic Valerian Root, Scullcap, Oat Flower, wildcrafted Passion Flower herb, and vegetable glycerin.
