Rainbow Bridge - Not Newf

Please keep my mom in your thoughts today. My dad died on Jan 8th 03 2 wks later she her 15 yr old cocker mix got really sick, we found out after tests that she had fairly advanced cancer and it would be one day at a time. Well the day has now come and she has to take her in this afternoon. This coming so soon after losing my dad is making it extra hard....Even though she knows its whats best for Missy its very hard for her. Thank you for you thoughts for her today.

I'm a little late to this thread, but my heart goes out to you and your mom. I know how hard it is to put a beloved pet down. I can't imagine what she (and you) must be going through to have lost your father as well.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and wishes. Mom is hanging in there, thankfully we have a wonderful vet that is very caring at times such as this. Moms brought home Missy's sweater for her other dog O.D. (a deaf Jack Russell) to be able to sniff it and have a better idea of whats going on. The vet did warn her that O.D. may become somewhat distant for a while since she has had so much upheavel in her life recently,she used to sleep snuggled up to my dad, and now with Missy gone she may react oddly. But now that its just mom & O.D. she is doting on her quite a bit so that may help ease O.D.'s loss also......

Your mom and your moms little dog are in my prayers. How are you holding up? You must be quite preggers by now. Life is a very hard thing to figure out isn't it. It's like a revolving door that doesn't quit. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Dear Shawn My heart and prayers go to you and your mom. I lost my oldest in May2002 after almost 15 yrs together. I thought my world was going to end that day.... Somehow i went on...and then I rescued my first Newf. In Dec I rescued my second newf. In January as most of you know I went To Alaska to get newf Eja so he could live here in Fl to help him with his hip displaysia. Before I could make that trip..I had to make a very hard decision..and that was to send my oldest female (non newf) to rainbow bridge. She was quite old and not doing very well. Do to an injury i have i have been home with my dogs all the time. With me going away I knew Sasha would not do well with me being gone...and i also knew it was finally time i face the fact that she would be better at the bridge with her brother Woobie. I had been holding it off for months and i knew in my heart she would be better there..and not suffering anymore. I have never had to send one of my "children" to the bridge and i know what it was like for your mom to let her baby go. We can only take comfort in knowing that they are happy and healthy where they are...and that they are waiting for us....
