 John!! Yep... "Change" is the theme of his candidacy.

I'm waiting to hear exactly what this "change" entails, however. So far, I haven't heard much concrete information.

I've seen pics and heard rumors that he refuses to put his hand over his heart or say the Pledge of Allegiance....is this true do you think? If so, just THAT is enough for me to not vote for him (but I actually have other reasons so I never would anyway).

I am guessing..that america 2008..is not what it was 1908. Pretty certain..that's true. I would then suppose..that 2108..is going to be vastly different..than the world..we see around us now, in 2008. If that also..proves to be true..then it will have 'come about'..from the ideas..and informations..of the global population..thinking..about what does..and does not work...over this 100 year time frame-in-progress. Sound-bites then..are rather like a salad drainer..and too much important information..leaves the 'fragment' behind..around which..so very much more..was closely..woven. If I hadn't heard where that 'fragment'..had been used..I would be scrambling to look it up now. We have always liked..needed something called...Context. It would be like someone handing moi..an empty, drying wooden corn dog stick. Rather forlorn and lacking..taste. ina n HB

Well, shoot... Got a good chuckle out of that one, John, as it appears to be a troubling rub throughout this campaign. It really pains me to post this, as I make it a personal discipline not to get involved in political rhetoric on an open forum, but... http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/change.asp Perhaps I should "change" my mind about political discussions and "change" for "change's" sake.

Whichever candidate a voter choses come election day is entirely up to that voter. I just do so hope that people voting have made their choice based on actual truth and fact. And actual knowledge of the two candidates and anyone else they maybe casting a vote for, not just what the main stream media or a neighbor spoon feeds.

A lot of what's wrong with this Nation and the world, is willing human ignorance on many fronts. Before one gives their consent to be lead by someone, or represented by someone, it would be smart to really know just to whom one is giving that consent. It's my opinion that too many Americans take that responsibility all to nonchalantly, especially when they've got it good.

I hadn't heard that one yet. I bet he's embarrassed now that he's had time to think about it.

Charity...he didn't say it. Go back and click on the link in Nancy's post

However, he does want "Change".... which may or may not be good. That's what many of us would like to know. Change, how? Once we know the answers to that question, we can make an informed decision.

I challenge anyone to name one accomplishment of the Illinois senator or name one policy he is advocating that is "new". It's the same old rehashed failed liberal agenda of the past 30 years. Show me one instance that illustrates his ability to bring people from both sides together. Personally I think when this man opens his mouth without a teleprompter in front of him, he makes President Bush look like a Mensa candidate.
But a part of me would actually like to see him elected, after all it took the miserable presidency of Jimmy Carter to give us the 8 great years of Ronaldus Maximus.

Uhhhhh.....Hmmmmmm...Nope...not a one. Kind of like the shiny new vehicle without an engine. ;) Frankly I'm disapointed and frustrated this election year. Not completely comfortable at all with either candidate. Interesting proposal John. Never quite looked at it that way. Seems the nation is due for a refresher course every 20 years or so.:coffeedrink: Might make for an interesting yet very long and painful 4 years. Class is in session.

Umm, how about withdrawing our troops from this ridiculous war in Iraq? And use some of the proceeds we would have spent to build infrastructure here at home-roads and schools in need of repair-investing in solar and wind farm technology that would reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. We're approaching a half a trillion dollars over there and what have we got to show for it?

My quote of the year is this: Questioner: "President Bush has talked about staying in Iraq for 50 years"

McCain: "maybe 100. That'd be fine with me."

What change does McCain even pretend to offer? Was it the failed liberal policies that brought us $145 for a barrel of oil? Or was that conservatism? Lower taxes? Not mine. Smaller gov't? It's never been bigger-but still incompetent. Katrina anyone? Protection of privacy? Schiavo ring a bell? Outong CIA operative Plame? 16 words lie? Warantless wiretapping? Abu Ghraib? Abramoff? Gonzalez? Privatizing Social Security? Politicizing US Attorney and Dep of Justice hiring? Opposition to life saving stem cell research? And SCHIP? Housing collapse? Enron? This is a really long list that goes on and on. Conservatives have a LOT to be proud of. Obama wants to change these items above. Accountibilty and Honesty-that's be a refreshing change. It might not be brand "new" but it's change from what we're getting.

George Bush is the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats. They're looking at 60 Senate seats and a 100 seat majority in the House. Thanks George!

Mensa and Bush in the same sentence... that does not compute :D

I have to tell u I have become a champion of sliding down on any seat when Bush comes on TV.. all eyes in the room turn to me.. And then the laughing starts.. not at me.. but Bush.. he never fails to get belly laughs. The man can't string 3 words together and talk about a teleprompter.. HA! Bush can't even read, but he sure can lie and get us into one hell of a mess in Iraq

BTW has anyone seen the $1 billion missing dollars we can't account for in Iraq. We gave the money to a few Iraqi ministers to run programs.. but those programs never got started.. and nobody knows where the money is.. please check your pockets.. If found please return the money to our ever increasing defect.

What a mess...I don't like either candidate......The ones I would have chosen dropped out.. I have to say..Obama scares me to death......full health care for illegals....his statement "We are not just a nation of Christians anymore" ...scares me..We will be distroyed from within. Put that in your book.. We are far to concerned with being politiclly correct......Julie

I thought I'd just pick one question to answer.

It was BOTH. The problem has been brewing for 30 years...and not one single President, or the House or Senate has done a darned thing about it. This could have all been prepared for YEARS ago, and we wouldn't be in this mess now.
