wow. That was a shocking article. I never heard of such a thing. How would the population of dog and cat owners ever know about this? I guess people don't ask what happens to all the millions of dogs and cats that are uthenized every year in this country. I assumed they were cremated. Sad read for a sunday morning...but very imformative. Thanks for posting that.

A word of caution do not believe everything you read, how do we know this company was not paid off to put false things on paper.
i am sorry but i do not hold much faith in "so called studies anymore"
i will continue to feed what i always have that being the Wysong wether it is on their silly list or not.
studies are good, but i just dont put much faith in them depending.
just like the bloat studies and the dog food war studies.

Studies like these have been kicking around for years with basically the same info. I am happy with my all natural, low protein, Martin's food and will continue to use it. Consumers have to do what they should do with their own foods and that is to read the labels and educate themselves. I generally look at these studies as a guideline to draw my own conclusions.

My thoughts, with the environment going to pott as quickly as it is, it is all to easy to blame the food, politics are in EVERYTHING out there, including the holistic pet site mentioned in the above link, though it is an informative site, i refuse to put any weight into their study just as i dont into the consumer reports magazine.
politics.
plain and simple, money talks.
newfyork good advice, people must educate themselves and think on their own what is good and what is bad, anyone can take a photo of a garbage truck, crop it and make it look like it is something it is not.
the way that graphics work nowadays it can be very decieving out there.
the bloat study is good but in my humble opinion there are way to many variables to conclusivly pinpoint the cause, my newfs defy every rule.
they drink water after eating, go play after eating, they never are rested, and so far i have been fortunate that since 86 i have not had the awful monster take any of my beloved pets.
same thing goes for dog food.
if a pet has a weakened immune system who is to say that the things used for cleaning in the household, the hairspray or other things it comes into contact with on a daily basis are the cause of the lymphoma, though my heart goes out to this person, i really cannot see how they can truly blame the dog food and only that.
just as we as people get weakened immune systems cancer can get us just like that from that, and dependant on what we expose ourselves to can be the cause, now the latest is detergent laundry detergent is a cancer causing agent! ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I agree with you all but the part of the article that shocked me was the part about uthenized dogs and cats being sold to pet food manufacturers. I'd love to hear that that is not true. :(

I certainly did not mean to raise a debate or eyebrows about this. I too am skeptical about the validity of very many so called studies. I did however look into the source of the report before posting it. It was featured on
KMOV-TV channel 4 in St. Louis This does not mean it is valid but FDA/GOV Don Arid was spokesperson on this issue. Trust me I did not crop this websites pics to make a point.

I certainly apologize if you thought i was targeting you! i was not!
please accept the apology, see i have dealt with TV newscasts when i worked in Search and Rescue, so call me a skeptic.
i do not believe half of what we are told by the news, trust me it is not the whole story.
