Puppy Love?

I have a puzzling problem and thought I'd run it by you all and see if you can relate to this. Zack has been going absolutely bonkers over Bella ever since I brought him home from a show. He's mounting her, licking her and basically acting like she's in heat. I brought in Bella's urine sample Monday on the off chance that we're dealing with a bladder infection. Nope. Everything is fine there. Yesterday I brought her in to have a vaginal swab done. She's not even in pre estrus (sp?) Not even close to coming into heat (Which is good because she was just in 3 months ago. Her line generally cycles every 3 months). ACK!!

Sometimes she'll stand for Zack while other times she'll box him upside the head. Lately they're reminding me of an old married couple. He really wants sex and she doesn't so she boxes his ears....
The other night they were really going at it. Playing, mind you, but they were both on their hind legs boxing the stuffing out of one another all the while having huge smiles on their faces. It's like they're courting. Well, Zack is for the most part although Bella does instigate things quite often ;) Have any of you dealt with something like this before?

Sorry, Codes, got no answers for you. I've got the same thing happening here right now (well, sort of) Emma came in to heat 3 weeks ago, well that got Molly humping Emma and ofcourse brought her (Molly) in to heat, one week in to it for Molly now, she's still humping Emma 10 times a day with Emma telling her off every time. And just today we caught Molly and Gracie humping Emma, so just my luck, that will bring Gracie in just as Molly finishes up in two weeks

Molly is ready to be spayed now that she's had her second heat, she's 22 months old now.

I feel like I need to put privacy screens up so the neighbors can't see what these bad girls are doing in their back yard
:D

Then ofcourse there's Murphy, the 7 year old neutered male golden retriever who is in his glory "taking care of" his girls ???? What was so funny to watch was when Devil lived here, she had had several litters and was "experienced"... While in heat, she would get Murphy's attention and the two of them would sneak off to a "hiding place" where she would invite Murph to mount her... Murphy was certainly willing to help her out, and she would eventually turn around and look at him like she was asking him what the problem was.... too funny.

OMG Molly's Mom, too funny!!!!!!

When I was in college I had my Mom's pyr bitch staying with me for a while during her move. My roommate foud a kitten in a dumpster that was probably about 5 weeks old. One day, we came home and this terrified kitten had decided Daisy was her mother. Daisy would lay down on her back and the kitten would try to nurse. White dog, black kitten...very cute. Then once, the kitten missed....hit a little low, of you catch my drift... So we named her Sapho, the lesbian cat.....

You guys.....

We do this thing with Sampson (like we did with Allie) where we rub his belly and say softly, "I rub your belly, I rub your belly." Silly little thing. Well my 4 yo daughter was doing it and Sampson was on his back and his eyes were in the back of his head and I was thinking, "Man, she's got it down!". Until I looked at his belly. "OH, HONEY! NO! THAT'S NOT HIS BELLY. IT'S UP HERE!" She said, "What is THAT?" I said, "HERE'S his belly."

OH NO hahahahah Newflove

I would have died! Sounds like you were quick changing the subject....

Codes, Laura, I'm actually ready to lose my mind!!!
These are the umm..... well... most zealous girls I've ever had. At least I'm half way through it now
. Molly will be spayed before her next heat, so it will help me for the next go-round, but Gracie and Emma won't be spayed until we know about their hips... at age 2. Molly has always been a pet newf, but Emma and Gracie we are waiting to see. Emma has more bone than I have ever seen in a bitch before. She's built like a brick lol, when she whams into you, you really know it
and she's as clutzy as can be so she's Always ramming somebody or something.
another month to go and I get a 6 month break, ahhhhhh

Bless your heart Linda. You must have nerves of steel! I can relate somewhat to what you're going through. I have two in tact bitches and just as one was done with her cycle, the other one started. My male was driven to distraction to say the least...

Emma sounds like a phenomenal bitch! I hope everything turns out well with her and Gracie's hips.

Calgon sounds like just what I need
.

It's interesting the way they tend to bring one another into season isn't it? When I had Devil here and Caroline was visiting, I had 5 girls in heat either together or overcrossing each other... what a mess!!!! I learned to walk around with a mop in one hand :D

You know Codes, Emma is really exceptional. She's got a huge head and she's very big. She is from Belgium. I got her when she was 4 mos. old. When we had her hip prelims done she was 11 mo. old. The orthopedic surgeon who did them told me that if Emma was her newf she'd "be dancing in the streets right now". At the same time she told me how BAD Molly's hips were :( . I do worry though, Emma came in from the back yard about a month or two ago limping in the back end and when she sat down she couldn't get back up... the vet said she thought she had probably been body slammed or something similar (sounds logical to me) and that she would work through it and that she had either wrenched or twisted something and would be ok. I don't think she has recovered completely yet. Hope there's no permanent damage :( ...... These big girls are not as tough as they appear sometimes.

Well share some pictures of this awesome girl, please

I'm so sorry to hear that Emma hasn't yet recovered from her injury. You might want to try rubbing some Arnica gel on her hips. I swear that stuff is MAGIC! I keep several tubes of that around the house and use it often on myself, my daughter and the dogs.

Thanks Mary, I just checked out a couple of websites and this is what I found out about it. I have never heard of it before, but I will definately find it! Thank you! And I can't post pics, I don't know how :( ......

"To alleviate dark, swollen bruises, apply a gel containing arnica
every three hours to encourage healing. Or, apply a tincture or cream
to the affected area. Arnica traditionally has been used for muscle
aches, sprains and bruises. The gel should improve the swelling,
stiffness and discoloration. Some people have a reaction to arnica, so
if your skin becomes red, itchy or inflamed, discontinue use."

"Arnica Gel... For relief of muscle aches and stiffness due to minor
injuries or overexertion; reduces pain, swelling, and discoloration
from bruises."
