Puppy kindegarten class

Willow (and I) start classes tonight. I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure she is going to think it's one big free for all. Hah! We also go to "Puppy Social" Sunday afternoons - its a chance to let all different types of pooches play and socialize. Willow was very good the first time there. For her age, she was the biggest dog in the room but she wasn't a bully. There was a Bull Terrier (Patton's dog in the movie Patton) that would not leave her alone. She took it all in good humor. Golden Retrievers seem to be the dog of choice this season. There were about 50 dogs and 10 of them were Retrievers. There was also a cutest little beagle with ears twice his size and a huge booming bark. I'm a dog person. Show me a baby and I don't get excited. Show me your dog though, and I just melt.

Have fun and enjoy the classes! You will learn as much as she will. I had to skip puppy class with Doc and go to intermediate because I didn't get him until he was 10 months old and he was way to big for the puppy class.

Class we a hoot. Lots of people completely lost with how to handle their dogs. I've been through training classes a couple of times, so I'm not so lost. Hah. Willow made a new friend. a 12 week old Harlequin Great Dane. They just clicked together. I exchanged phone numbers with the owner and we will get together out of class to let our puppies enjoy the company. She let's her GD sleep with her and made the mistake of telling the teacher. Lots of clucking about that. Like she doesn't know how big this dog is going to get!!.. Willow doesn't like sleeping on my bed which is probably a good thing.

Nothing really startling in class - I think it's more teaching people, than teaching puppies. There is a cute little girl about 13 in class with her Shibu Inu. That girl is darn serious for a youngster.

I'm learning that Willow is not very "food" orientated. The trainer says I should feed her only half her dinner on the nights of class and bring really stinky treats. I've got a recipe for homemade liver treats I will make up this weekend and see if she likes those.

Glad you had fun...............Annabelle is best friends with a very naughty Harlequin Great Dane, "Angel", by name but not character  He come to training a lot, but he has fallen way behind us now, which is sad, because they love one another. I think it is because he is large too.
Tessa was never food orientated and still isn't. You cannot change some things. the trainer brought these "every dog will eat these treats" for her and she ignored them. But she loves praise, so it is OK

That's Great I love going and watching how people treat there dog, it can be quite comical.I've bean going to the same trainer for puppy classes for a long time.Chloe is the fourth dog.She told the class I've made a Career for her.We do have fun and this time Chloe is going to be in class with her buddy a Chocolate lab female.I feel socializing your dog is the greatest way to start training.Newfs I think are born social but I see a lot of dogs were the owner say I don't need puppy class I've had dogs before.Meanwhile the dog drags them around and doesn't know what to do when it meets another dog. Puppy Class is the Best!
