PsychoNewf?

Ok, I've watched newfies dig holes etc etc, but this afternoon I was outside with Matilda and she was laying there calm as could be. She then shot like a rocket further into the yard, I assumed another squirrel was foolish enough to try and cross her yard. She bolted maybe 20 yards, turned came right back to me, jumped the fence into the garden and dug a 2' x 2' x 18" deep hole in a matter of two minutes.

She laid in the hole for 10 or 20 seconds then returned to where she was lounging prior to the event as if nothing happened.

Any ideas?

Rory will do that sometimes when she is feeling frisky, or when I am trying to get her to come in the house. The other day she did that, but the backyard had turned into a swamp after 3 days of rain. She bolted out to the fence and as she turned to bolt back she slipped in the mud, fell on her side and slid for about 5 ft. before righting herself! This was about 10 minutes before the realtor was due at my house and I had just washed my white kitchen floor!
Who knows what goes on in a newf's brain!

Samantha does this at times. Now that our pond is getting water in it she will mosey around the field then see the water (I think she forgets it is there) and run like crazy to it, splash all over, run like crazy all around the banks then run to me and shake. All of this in about 30 seconds.

Brady has these short energy bursts as well. They are short lived and funny to watch. Just look out when he does!

Same with Boagie,90% of the time she is quite rational however there is the other 10% where insanity takes over.
