Prong (pinch) collar

You certainly could write a few Tomb sized books on this topic. I use prongs on both girls Chloe was great till she hit about 85 lbs then disaster set in. She dragged my wife through an intersection, then knocked me. Did that alligator death roll and like Houdini she was free of her gentle leader. So needless to say prong collars came out. They love them and love to walk at anytime show them the collar and they are ready to go. I look at them as tools and the tool in only as safe and efficient as the person holding on to it.

My Second interesting story was this summer at a cruise night ( Car Show). Was sponsored by the pet shop in the plaza. I was approached by a lady and asked if I had ever had anyone give me a hard time because both dogs had prongs on. Here I was all gearing up for one and she was complete opposite. Turns out she was a dog trainer and was having trouble convincing a few of her clients that had 125 lb + dogs and they refused to listen as these dogs constantly knocked them and other people down.

This is the last laugh as this is getting lengthy. I actually watched a Golden Retriever on a prong dragging a 200lb+ man down the street arm straight out like he was proud of the beast. LOL I was so surprised I couldn't stop laughing.

Prongs are not cruel, people that misuse them are. You can damage a dogs neck very severely with any collar. I think people that love their dog will used the popper tools to keep you and your best friend safe & happy.
For someone that hasn't sad much lately I'm sure chatty tonight.:D

Last year I took Fiona to a training class (she was 4 and I don't know what her background was). The trainer had all sorts of different collars and leashes to use and let those in the class try out different ones to find one that was the most effective on their dog. I use the prong on Fiona. She responds best to that collar. As we walk around the neighborhood, I can walk her with just her buckle collar. But, at events with lots of other dogs and people, I have to have the prong collar on her.

I don't use prong collars as a rule but my departed gsd girl Jessie was always a real puller.she would actually choke herself rather than ease up a little.
I got a prong collar just to try on her and it helped.it seemed to break her mindset of l must get there into well l can still get there just a little slower.

I only used it whenever she forgot but as a tool it was useful.
I tend to use gencon's or dogmatics these days a lot.
