Proheart injection

Has anybody used them? My daughters vet recommended it for her dog as a yearly heart worm prevention. She and I like to know more about it.
I told her I will ask the experts on NN about pro's and con's. I have always used Interceptor monthly and I am not sure if I want a yearly dose injected into Bär. Thanks in advance from the Brat and Rat pack.

Here's a link to info. on the 6 month version: http://www.drugs.com/vet/proheart-6-can.html

Just this warning (note the size of the lettering and bold type) would be enough for me to avoid it:
Because Of Its Potential For Serious Adverse Drug Reactions And The Absence Of Identifiable Risk Factors Associated With Those Reactions, Proheart 6 Is Only Indicated For Those Dogs In Which Alternative Preventatives Cannot Be Effectively Administered.*

*See Adverse Reactions section for complete information.

I remember when this came out. My vet said she would not use it until it had been out for several years. And then it was recalled.

Thanks for your help, this confirms what I found looking into it. Until today I had never heard of it. I have showed my daughter the links and your comments & she will stick to Interceptor for the Rat. The Brat will stay on Interceptor as well. Don't like any of the chemicals when it comes right down to it, but we live in Mosquito heaven and lots of heart worm around here........
Thanks again NN members, as all ways I could count on you to help me find the right path for our fur baby's.
