Preparing pups for vaccinations

I don't know about preparing them for shots but I remember my vet saying they are leaning away from the 6 wk shots and suggesting giving them at 7 or 8 wks now.

Christine, we gave parvo at 12 weeks and distemper at 16 then repeated a parvo and 4 weeks later another distemper. I don't know if there's anything you can do to get them ready for vaccines but you can dose with Thuja and Ledum after the vaccine. I never used Ledum because we never had a reaction but I always used Thuja.

The estimation of immunity from the mother is now 12-16 weeks. The study was done on golden retrievers by a vet named Schultz if you want to look it up.

hey thanx ok next question
they nursed for about two weeks, than mom started to dry up
so i know they got enough that first two weeks.
but,,,,,, is it enough to consider they have enough immunity from mom?
thanx.
that is why i am thinking we should stay same old protocol with this litter?

I don't think you need to anything different with this litter, since the pups would get the immunity from Tasha before they are born. The immunity is carried to the pups from the blood supply from the mother to the pups.

Yes, I have heard that the colostrum is important for the pups too and your pups did get that. It is only there in the first 72 hrs anyway and Tasha was still nursing at that point, wasn't she?
