Photo Challenge #89 - Trees

I love trees and they often have such character, e.g. stately, beautiful, delicate, gnarly, lonely, old and tired, young and exuberant, light and airy, deep and dark, fun loving, a survivor, etc. But capturing that character with a camera shot has always been a challenge.

For this challenge, I'd like to see how you have captured the character of your favorite trees. Even better if you think the character of the tree mirrors your own character or someone you know. Short stories about the shots are welcome.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the great shots.

What a fun challenge! I'm going to have to spend some time looking through all my photos to see what I can find.

This is the Queen palm tree in our front yard. Look closely you just might see something.

A woodpecker made her nest in our palm tree. Here is one of her babies.

And here is one extra. The lighting wasn't right, but it is the only one I got of the mama and her babies. The babies flew away from the nest today. They sure were fun to watch grow.

A Tree Comes Between Katie and Me

This past March Gary and I went to Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Arkansas and walked on the King Fisher Trail. The trail follows the Little Maumelle River which is lined with very old cedar trees. One of the trees was hollow, so I climbed into it. Katie, being the mama's girl that she is, jumped up on it to try to figure out what I was doing.

"Mama what are you doing in there. Come out and play with me."
How could anyone resist that sweet face? I came out right away to be reunited with my best girl.

Very nice AC. Both are winners for me buy I do like the first one best. Rocks, trees, and the sea all in one shot! Very nice.

GAD I really like your photo. It makes me want to sit on that bench and meditate...perhaps with Katie's big head under my hand.

Becky, I like both of your photos a lot, but the first one really grabs my imagination and makes me want to go for a stroll among those beautiful trees.

Trees Photo

This is one of my favorite of my own photographs, and I thought I would share it, as it happens to be of a tree:

It's one of the larest trees in the woods nearby my house; it's a huge maple, and this was taken about two years ago in winter.
