Terri,@Rhoward, what effect are you using that makes the photo blurry yet sharpens the edges of the individuals in the picture? Is this Lightroom or PhotoShop? Curious- thanks,
Terri
The second photo is so powerful. It says everything it needs to say for me. I hope you don't mind but I really wanted to do something special for this captivating picture. Those are really beautiful photo's Dianne
I posted this a little while back, but I like it so I'll post & find another.
I didn't take this, Kaila gets credit for this photo that I cherish. So it's not an entry and I still may have to look for another. LOL

Terri,
PhotoTools from OnOne is what gives me the tools to create these effects. Here is the link: http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/
With the right software, and a little imagination, anyone can make their photos more expressive and interesting. Then again, there is nothing wrong with any photo that moves you or your family. Cheers!
Thanks! It's all personal preference. Some will like it... some will hate it... some will be indifferent. The beauty in photography is there are, for the most part, no rules. I haven't seen publications without post processing in a long time. Post processing, for me, allows freedom to explore creativity and expression in a controlled environment. Then again, I would go crazy if I did post on every picture I ever took. Let's face it, imperfection is not very trendy today. Pick any magazine and you will see what I mean. Thanks I wondered. My husband uses LR. I prefer the photos untouched, personally - I'm not a fan of after processing, though the Monet look with your wife is pretty. So is she.
Some I like, others I don't. I really like the one you did of Frankie...looked great! Thanks! It's all personal preference. Some will like it... some will hate it... some will be indifferent. Lessons can be fun for some and grueling for others. Because everyone learns differently it is difficult to excite people with cameras to stretch their boundaries from on-line exercises. I am completely self taught. I have a passion for photography so that helps push me to want to learn more. I have several books and continue to learned from the Internet and magazines. I certainly don't want to upset anybody by altering their photos so perhaps I will hold off a bit. Cheers! Some I like, others I don't. I really like the one you did of Frankie...looked great!
Sometimes I want the background in the photo...other times, I bokah it to death! hahaha! Just depends on how appealing it is back there. LOL
I do like more saturation in some pics. I find that with Newf shots, sometimes things seem to get washed out...like the eyes. Although in Addie's pics I didn't need to intensify the saturation. Her eyes, if the light is hitting them, are a beautiful shade of brown.
No matter what, it's always fun to play around and see what you can get. Once, here on NN, we had a photoshop challenge too...but for many it's just too hard, and for others here, well...it's what they DO in real life! It was awesome, however, when we got lessons from them. Those lessons may still be here somewhere. I printed them all out and still go and review them now and again when I want to do something.
My hubby uses all the equipment and software you've mentioned in your posts. It seems he's alot like you regarding the whole photography and enhancement thing, and all self taught. One thing I've learned is you can no longer count on what you see in a photo as being real. I know this has been professional practice for some time, but since I've watch him create, I see it first-hand. Some of his workLessons can be fun for some and grueling for others.
